in this fight, there is no place for reprieve; unlike most trilogies there was an area of rest where the fighter had the clear advantage over the other, a place where one fighter can completely dominate the matchup.

while there is a slight adv among each fighters, neither is able to fully dominate either range; marquez can't dominate and maintain the long dist, an izzy was the stronger guy inside. But even still marquez had his moments in the phone both and the mid range is equal for both; since neither can completely dominate in their range, it makes for a tough fight.

in gatti/ward-ali/frazier-bowe/holyfield and so on at one place or another one guy was able to dominate if not shutdown his opp; the same can't be said for these guys meaning that this fight will always be taxing to the winner and the loser. Neither guy is good or dynamic enough in comparison to one another to avoid punishment by playing their game, an their opp is good enough to be able to get the other guy out their game. Izzy has shored up his def and refined his off, so that he can still get to marquez at a dist and close dist/press enough to get in. Marquez is hard enough hitting and busy enough to get to izzy on the inside and at least hold his own llong enough to get back to his range; so u have a fight where both guys kill themselves trying to establish the correct range and then end up not even being able to get a clear adv, meaning they take a hellacious beating trying to get in their range and a beating maintain or trying to reestablish their range..

most fights arent that evenly matched; one guy always can excel in an area, take a rest/potshot/beatup or counter their opp... In this case neither can and as a result both guys take beating throughout the length of any and all fights.

both guys are made for each other, this trilogy is one of the best in history. To me Marquez is the better boxer, but Vasquez was the one with heavy hands and lots of heart. In the end Vazquez won which Im cool with it, but I think Marquez could have won it, he was winning on points on my score and if he would have use a bit if intelligence and stay out of ranged from Vasquez the two last rounds he will have won. But at least it was a great fight for the fans.

That's why these fights are so compelling, theres no telling what might happen.

4 tht reason these guys shouldn't fight again, no place of rest and abuse no matter what range things take place at; i think these guys have taken 2-3yrs off their careers an might get knocked off by the next stiff opp they faced.

that is how much damage has been done
