    Why do YOU hope so? What difference does it make to you what the fighter gets paid?

    Unions are for people with small minds.

    The last people you want to organize a union are the Culinary union 226.

    Forget the UFC's hatred toward them for just a moment. They have legit done some real shady crap. They are the epitome of "the ends justify the means." Everything they've done has been with the intent of hurting the UFC to get their way. The idea of them organizing anything to unionize in MMA just sounds disgusting.

    This the same group that...

    • Backed anti-MMA legislation in New York;
    • Launched an online petition calling on FOX to back away from a deal to broadcast UFC events;
    • Demand Anheuser-Busch pull its Bud Light sponsorship of the UFC;
    • Supported wacky MMA legislation in California;
    • Demanded the Marine Corps cut ties with the UFC;
    • Demanded that OTM cut ties with the UFC;
    • Petitioned Toys"R"Us CEO Gerald Storch to pull all UFC related toys from the company's stores.

    And isn't afraid to harass people like this...

    As a fan, a union hurts the fans of a sport. Any sport. It's always best to have athletes be brainless, poorly paid and powerless. I'm not being facetious, it's just the fact if we want the best matchups. You want "hungry" fighters who will go all out and can be manipulated and controlled by the promoters and forced to fight anyone WE want to see with little to no other option.

    As for your statement, "Unions are for people with small minds", not sure how to interpret what you mean by "small minds". Unions are great for workers to gain some power against owners/those with a lot of power and money to even the playing (negotiation) field. It takes guts to form a union and it takes forward thinking instead of just the selfish small thinking of "what's the boss going to do to me if I try to unionize or why should I unionize when I get paid more than my coworkers?"

    I'd say unions are for people who are unselfish and gutsy. Probably the opposite of "small minds" or whatever you mean.

    It will fail. If they can't get a bunch of lower level Station Casino employees to unite, how do they expect to do UFC fighters? Without the support of the top 20% of UFC fighters, it's POINTLESS.

    I will be laughing my ass off when nothing changes and now these fighters need to give a piece of the pie to the Union. Are UFC fighters going to say they are underpaid when they make more than fighters in other organizations lol

    My guess is this is pressure to get the Fertitas to unionize the casino's and has nothing really to do with fighters.

    Didnt think they could make a union, but maybe could make a fighters association. I'm all for fighters getting paid more not sure what a union could do for them. Union cannot overide the contract with Reebok.

    This is going to be a very hard sell unless they can get the top ranked fighters and veterans with drawing power on board. Also, it's going to be tricky to address the bottom ranked fighters who SHOULD be cut after poor performances and multiple losses.

    The UFC could literally cut half the roster and hardly anyone would notice.

    And then there's the problem of unionizing a bunch of independent contractors. Unless the Union is going to seek to officially change their legal status to employees and that opens an entirely different can of worms.

    It also seems awful fishy that they're trying to unionize the UFC versus boxers who actually are even more underpaid at the lower tiers and are far more numerous.

    *pulls out popcorn*

    Fighters would have to say good bye to performances bonuses. Good bye to locker room bonuses. Good bye to getting paid anything over what they are contractually obligated to make. Unionizing fighters is a joke that hit fighters hard if they buy into it.

    Not only that the Union wouldn't be able to do anything with the existing contracts. Unless they make everyone go on strike and then they have to hope the UFC doesn't play the waiting game for long. These guy are in their primes this is not like asking a cook to sit out a few months. Asking a fighter to sit out is asking him to throw away his prime.

    On top of that they literally have almost no chance of getting the champs to join.

    I don't think it is likely that they will succeed in forming a union, but "nothing changes" if they are actually able to form a union?

    Do you think NFL, MLB, NBA unions have done nothing for their players?

    I can't imagine a union willing to strike for fighters that are getting paid more than other organizations. They will collect the dues of these fighters and tell them to not complain. Fighters lose more money and Unions getting rich off of fighters.

    The NFL, MLB and NBA have no competition or really no other organization that can compete with them. We have lots of MMA organizations and the UFC pays the best. How can a Union argue that?

    I get it that the UFC is by far the biggest but the fighter pay for bottom guys is also by far the best.

    Interesting link

    Your thread title sounds like a reality show name lol

    The culinary union has some powerful people behind it. Look how they held up NY for UFC.

    All UFC will do is cut the bottom 250 fighters that they give $10k+10k to & the fighters lose medical & UFC can get curtain-jerkers for $1k like Bellator does.
