I'm okay with that, maybe with a Title defense Esparza should be #1, JAG has defended her title 2 times now

Well, JAG was the #1 since the win over MegaMegu and still she didn't lost, she beated the previously ranked #8 Faria while Carla won the title vs. Rose that wasn't even ranked in the top 15, and also exibition matches don't count here so based on how these rankings evolved JAg as #1 is logical, then of course if Esparza will keep beating the very best probably she'll get the #1 spot, but not now.

Penne beated another fighter that wasn't ranked in the top 15 and Rose still is coming from 2 losses in pro bouts and wasn't ranked in the top 15, but both with a solid win in a pro bout can get into top 10 easily.

Then the positions between #8 to #15 aren't that easy to assign imho, yeah Evinger could be over Carmouche as well.

Interesting to note that the FLW division is taken by storm with a lot of talented latin-american fighters, and most of them aren't in Invicta.

Of course I'm not saying that reality show fights must count, but Namajunas's losses have been against greater competition than JAG's last wins, should be at least considered as a newcommer. JAG defeated the GOAT Fujii, that's true, but that was ages ago and does not make sense to still regard her so highly based on that, especially considering that Esparza has been moping the Invicta floors with highly regarded names for the last couple of years. IMO, JAG right now should be ranked no higher than Gadelha.

Penne jumped ship from another weight class in which she was dominant. Even considering that Randa's best achievements come from a reality show, she still defeated her and that should put Jessica on the map.

Evinger is basically the uncrowned Invicta champion and Carmouche has lost 10 million in a row. One could even make a case for Rin Nakai, who faced Miesha Tate with the same results as Carmouche and was 16-0 before that, with D'Alelio and LaRosa as her latest wins.

Maybe UFC should make Carmouche vs Nakai happen and settle that last one.

Agreed on everything except the bolded statement.
The best fighter Carla beated in Invicta was Bec that, although I like her, she's not even top 20 material, ranked #16 in the UFC rankings while there are many top 10 SWs out of UFC.

And, of course, imho JAG is ok as the #1 and isn't a case that the Unified WMMA Rankings have her there, imho a win of Carla over Joanna would make the trick and put the SoCal girl on the throne.

Well, maybe if/when Esparza beats Jedi they will finally reward her with a number one ranking. I kind of like this rankings controversy as it`s its an excuse for Dana & Co. to bring over JAG as soon as possible.

Liz Carmouche has been riding that neck crank on Rousey as an excuse to keep her in the Top 10 for a long time. Maybe it`s time to say, "Who has she beaten lately?" Evinger should definitely be ranked higher. McMann should be ranked higher. Tate should be ranked lower...but when McMann owns Tate and rag-dolls her in the cage (in a few weeks) this will get straightened out.

I actually agree with the Flyweight and Strawweight rankings for the most part. Jinh Yu Frey should probably be ranked 9th or 10th among AWs. She has shown she is legit and her only loss was a razor thins SD to the #5 ranked fighter in the division.

There isn't a big gap in competition or skill @ SW. Just because a fighter is in the UFC, doesn't make winning in the UFC better than winning outside of the UFC, especially in a weak, division where some of the females look like they've been training for a few months.

JAG being first is fine but if Carla beats JJ next she takes the top spot.

And Rose should absolutely be in the top 5.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk should be #2. Her and Carla are in the same org and she has better wins in the last 2 years and she's undefeated.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk: 6 wins in the last 2 years.

Claudia Gadelha (12-1), Juliana de Lima Carneiro (7-2), Rosi Sexton (13-5), Karla Benitez (10-7), Julia Berezikova (7-4) & Kate Jackson (5-2). T = 54 -21 (72 win rate%)

Carla Esparza: 2 wins in the last 2 years

Bec Rawlings (5-4) & Rose Namajunas (2-2). T = 7-6 (53.8% win rate)

Anybody with any sense can see that Joanna Jedrzejczyk should be higher ranked than Carla Esperza.

Speaking of straightening rankings: how about Carmouche vs Nakai?

Also, did you mean Miesha lower than Sara or Liz? If Sara, we'll see. If Carmouche: NO FUCKING WAY

You serious? Carla is the champ and just beat Rose, Torres, Penne.

Rose = overrated.
*Penne = decent win (based on her skill but still got out-struck by Carla), let's see what else she can do @ SW.
*Torres = decent win (based on her wrestling).

*exhibition fights

Rose and Torres are top 5. Penne is top 2 at 105.

Doesnt matter cause Carla/JJ winner will be number 1 after they fight.

How can anyone take this list seriously when Cyborg isn't even on the list? I know she hasn't had a fight for some time but to exclude her off the list is just crazy.

"Fighters under suspension or who have not competed within the past 12 months are not eligible to be ranked (excluding TUF 20 participants). Fighters who vacate a weight class will no longer be ranked in that division."

It clearly states this, and removing people inactive in a year isn't uncommon

Marq has basically said he would rank Carla as #1 if she beats JJ. Which I don't agree with, because Jag has been more active and has a win over Carla. Plus Jag's wins have been against veterans, not green fighters with only a handful of professional fights on their resume. I want to see Jag brought to the UFC so Carla can have a chance for redemption and it would create some heat over which fighter is the true champion.
