Oliveira was game and didn't fold, congratulations and it's a deserved perseverance to success story from very difficult beginnings - but I think there are still question marks over him and was almost finished in the first ... IMO Chandler would be champ right now if he played it smarter after he had him hurt.

So, unfortunately perhaps, but Conor could likely be champion again by the end of the year.

He has a strong record of adjustment and victory in rematches, so he might very well win against Poirer in summer, meaning an autumn gifted title shot against Oliveira who is a reasonably good stylistic matchup for Conor.

If he was to become champion again it would be both amazing and totally insufferable at the same time.

strong record of adjustment and victory in rematches? Wait, he’s only had two rematches.... and the last rematch he had, he lost. What?

God forbid. I see a small opportunity for him but its very unlikely.

I’ll give you €140000 if that happens this year. I don’t care if he even goes to a different org and wins a belt.

Oliveira is a horrible match up for Conor? I am sure the Notorious was hoping Chandler won

Firstly Poirier likely beats Mcgregor again.

Secondly there is Gaethje, Chandler and Beneil all now ahead of Mcgregor and all would likely beat Conor at this point.

Thirdly you have Oliveira who looked incredibly fast and accurate and has impeccable ground skills. Now that’s a horrible fight for the ageing, slower Irishman.

Mcgregor needs to build some wins at his level.
Possible winnable fights being Diaz, Ferguson, RDA, Hooker and Felder.

Oh and lastly he needs to avoid Islam as a loss against Makhachev would probably be the very worst thing that could happen to Conor and send him into a spiral of self doubt, drug use and irrational behavior.

The fact is that Mcgregor is on the slide and was partying too hard whilst those around him in the rankings were grinding hard.

I don’t agree with the narrative that Olli was ‘almost KOed’. He took 2-3 shots in the span of 8 sec and was in danger as a result, but at no point was he rocked or looking like he was not defending.

Only the most desperate fans point to a dangerous but failed sub a near loss and question the winner’s worth. Why then do so many go hyperbolic when someone eats a big shot yet never folds?

McGregor will be champion by the end of the year if Oliveira won't go running after Conor steamrolls Dustin in trilogy.

One rematch against Nate, started running once Nate put some pressure on him in the 4th and 5th. So if his adjustment is running, yeah you're right

That's the point, no he doesn't.

If he beats Poirer (not impossible) and wants the title shot, he'll likely get it.
I’m acting on the assumption he loses to Poirier again, if he beats Poirier then he is legit back in line for a title shot, maybe not right away but early 2022 regardless of whether he fights again.. beating Dustin means something and I highly doubt there will be a fourth fight between them.
My bad for not making that clear.. your bad for posting in massive font.. I now have migraine.

Conor probably is not far away from looking like Tony and Cerrone out there. I know he is younger but the way he has parties and imbibes he probably took a few years away from him. He already looked slower and stiff in his last couple of fights.

Conor hasn’t left the beaches in Dubai. He’s not making any adjustments.
