Understanding McGregor cocky charisma. When others try they are obnoxious

In the UFC205 press conference for example, I think Jeremy Stephens is a nice an exciting fighter, he has power, but when he tried to be cocky and funny like McGregor, saying he KO people and McGregor just TKO them... (sounds like something McGregor would say), he doesnt sound appealing at all, and the result is him being annoying.

What is McGregor secret ?

Is just this "magical" gift of being charismatic and funny by nature ?

I think the fact McGregor looked SUPER IMPRESSIVE, just in the moment he gets into the octagon the first time is the difference.

Remember his first press conference? HE WAS NOT COCKY, he was funny, was clever, made jokes, and said he wants to fight against the best (not cocky, just what everyone says).

Was just after defeating 2 or 3 opponents, and when he was looking BEYOND GOD MODE IMPRESSIVE, he starts to talk all cocky, mystic Mac and whatever.

This guys (stephens, el cucuy, and many others) want to be cocky an "McGregor like" in the mic, they want to be appealing and loved, but act like that without being first super impressive and just regular or okay in the octagon. THATS THE PROBLEM. Look at El Cucuy for example.

Dominick Cruz gets it. The guy made a comeback you only see in movies, and looks superb. Thats why he can be cocky on the mic and being loved.

PD: Chael Sonnen could do it because he looked super impressive in fact against Anderson Silva, even if he lose. And the rest of the time he was just super smart and funny with his thrash talk, never said he was the best p4p or whatever, he knows he is not, so he is just very entertaining and never acts cocky "for real", like saying he can KO jon jones or whatever.

What do you think? What is the secret behind McGregor cocky charisma an everyone else failing trying to impersonating him ?

it has more to do with McGregor having an accent (Seriously read half of what Cody Gabrandt says about Dom in McGregor's voice it's a lot more appealing, huh?) and he represents a race with a lot of fans in the sport who had nobody to get behind seriously before him. The best way to become big as a fighter is to represent people that aren't represented.

It's like meeting a girl for the first time and flashing pretentious poses and trying too hard to be funny. It's awkward alright.

Whereas with Conor he slowly reeled the MMA fandom in... His accent, his quick thinking and tone of voice completes it

Imagine the perfect complement to the Conor style is a rival French featherweight who speaks English well but with a movie worthy accent.

Or even a Russian who is super serious and stoic and McGregor being the antithesis of that.

Its really simple really. He knows how to speak and can put him self into the mentality to believe in what he says. It is not forced, acted upon, etc. Mind you, he does sip on his monster energy drink at every presser. So I think that and him hyping him self up for the event itself creates his aura.

Whereas other fighters do not know how to speak, believe in what they say, and/or do not know how to put themselves in that mindset.

The difference between him and those other guys is that Conor gets a bigger push from the UFC. More marketing and publicity for him than for the other fighers. He's nothing special. He has cheesy and predictable lines. The 'who the fuck is that?' thing is played out as fuck.

Post Go big I thought he became cringe worthy most of the time so I don't agree. He wears on you like anyone. Especially when it's all money talk. That gets old get some new material.

As to why some ppl like it it's mainly delivery. Some ppl have it some don't. Ali said deplorable things to people he was going to fight especially Liston but ppl ate it up.
