Everyone knows about football (American and association), baseball, and basketball, but what are some sports that don't get talked about?

For me, it's college wrestling.

Golf to the death. And I'm not joking about this.

I played (European/team/olympic) Handball as a kid. It's popular in Spain, France, central Europe, the former eastern bloc, and Asia.

Involves a lot of athleticism and a good dose of violence.

for me to watch:

golf
tennis
hockey is underrated as all hell especially in person

It's certainly not underrated here, but most people don't know about it elsewhere, so hurling.

My uncle played in an all Ireland final in the 80s. I may have mentioned that to you previously. My dad's side is from Dublin.

Yeah I think I remember you said this

Grandfather (along with his brother) was on Gaelic football championship team in the early 50s. THe Irish Times had a write up of historic great all-Ireland finals and their championship was one of them.

These are great sports that very few people know of.

Yup, football > soccer. But hurling is the GOAT, as much as I love rugby as well.

For north american sports, ice hockey is underrated I think. Especially because loads of people over here love NFL...which I find to be mostly very dull.

Pingpong all day. I actually feel like a pro even though I'm shit.

Lacrosse.

College Lacrosse is by far one of the most underrated entertaining sports, especially down the final stretch of games when teams can easily rally back from several goal deficits and it's all out frantic intensity. What's not to love; there's usually a decent amount of scoring (a lot of which is nifty and creative), guys pummeling the shit out of each other with body checks (no homo) and beating opponents with the stick..

The NCAA Lacrosse Tournament starts next week and they have the conference championships this weekend on ESPNU and several other channels... it's definitely worth checking out for those who aren't familiar, especially in the 4th quarter.

I watched lacrosse a while ago because when I saw it, it reminded me a little bit of hurling. The highlights looked really good, like big checks and nifty behind the back goals and so on. I also watched some guy called Paul Rabill or something who's videos looked cool. But when I watched it I didn't really enjoy it that much, it wasn't bad but the pattern and pace of play seemed strange and I thought the little nets where weird. Maybe I just watched the wrong game, or it's because I didn't understand it. Maybe it gets really good in the 4th quarter. If I see it on TV I might watch it again though.

Net sports are boring and fairly simplistic to me. Including hockey. Shit was cool live for all of ten minutes and after that I couldn't even drink myself out of boredom.

Cool sports in person are olympic throwing events. Particularly the hammer and Javelin. Obviously not a lot to think about but it's never not amazing to watch. The skill and technique is also very underrated.

As I mentioned gaelic football is underrated, way better than soccer imo.
