Holy shit.....these fights look brutal and exciting.....I just found it interesting that something like this would exist, in Japan of all places. (Then again, Yakuza.....nuff said.)

I recall Enson Inoue mentioning something about an underground fighting tournament where Yakuza members participate in....It was when he was a guest in the Joe Rogan Podcast......

I just thought I would share this. :icon_conf

Underground? Stadium, professional lighting systems, TV broadcast, heavy media presence, commentators.. How is that underground?

I live in Japan and I've never seen nor heard of this. This is not on any tv network and those aren't stadiums.
It is organized, but so are many things that aren't legit. I'm definitely going to look into this and see if I can go.

kinda weird that throws are forbidden, dont really see how that gets them closer to street fighting. if i had to fight someone in the street i would throw them and run

Maybe these events aren't being held in the Saitama Super Arena but it's still in a venue with rings, protective gloves for the fighters and referees. When you think underground fighting it's usually in some warehouse with only some wraps on the fighters hands and no referees.

It looks like kickboxing with ground-and-pound. I only watched the first couple minutes, but these guys didn't seem to have any clue about ground defense.

Thanks for sharing TS. I am suprised these guys don't have a ground game seeing as Judo is one of the most popular sports in japan.

This is something ive thought about a lot lately. How good are judokas on the ground. I always assumed that it depended largely on where and how you learnded your judo. I read about how the only Judokas who are still good on the ground are from Japan and Brazil. And I think thats bc the rest of the world trains judo strictly for the olympics type judo competition. My buddy who is a BJJ purple belt says he smokes high level judo guys on the regular. Id love to hear some opinions on this.
