Hello guys.

I have been looking videos of very unconventional strikers who have a very high success. Names comes to my mind:

-Igor vovchanchyn
-Naseem Hamed.

I can only list these two.

Which fighters in your opinion can be too in this list?

lol muaythaidude, watching TUF?

from what I watch, and off the top of my head:

Saenchai
Tony Ferguson
Yair Rodríguez

"unconventional" according to what rules /in what setting?
Machida's striking style is highly unconventional in UFC, but would not raise many eyebrows in point karate. Tsukamoto Norishika is a highly unconventional fighter in knockdown karate, but that may not be the sport you are asking about.

Emanuel Augustus

Really hard to say because it depends on the format. If I had to name some names, probably:

Naseem
Roy Jones Jr.
Somrak Khamsing (Check him out if you don't know him)
Michael "Venom" Page
Gunnar Nelson
Fedor
Anderson

Colton Smith?
..... Jake Shields? :D

Keith Jardine supposedly had an unconventional awkward style that threw his opponents off. Dunno if you want to mimick him though.

Yup, had TUF on my mind when I wrote that. Conor's style is interesting because he seems to have a relaxed, conversation (taunt) with his opponent, while having that straight boxing style a la the Notre Dame's fighting Irish mascot.

I was impressed with Juicy J because everybody thought he was going to get whupped (what the hell is the correct spelling of that) but his opponent was too stationary.

I agree with Saenchai, his whole style is unconventional. And definitely Naseem. Man, that dude was a blast to watch. I would love to fight like that but every coach on earth would crucify anybody trying to incorporate his style. This brings me to an interesting point. One thing I like about MMA vs MT is that in MMA you can get away with your own style more. In MT classes there is always a wrong way and a right way... until you work with another coach who says the right way is the wrong way, and then another coach... and so on and so forth. I guess that happens in MMA too, but more so, in my experience, in MT.

To build the perfect MT fighter I'd have the physique and art of Buakaw, the tricks of Saenchai and the calmness and teep of Samart.

I'm surprised that Dillishaw, with all of his switch-hitting, had not been mentioned yet.

Guess Jersey Joe Walcott belongs in this thread as well.

Not sure you could call Genki´s antics a "fightstyle". The few times he actually fought seriously, his main unconventional additions was spamming with back kicks and spinning backfists. Although he sure did raise showboating to an artform.

Every great striker has his own style.

and this!!! Especially in MMA in which everyone should be very different from one another. It's really disappointing to see Muay Thai Jiu Jitsu taking over MMA as if those are the only martial arts in the world.

The whole point of MMA is for you to mix your own martial art. Everybody's jamba juice is going to be different. That's why the most successful fighters are the most unconventional or knows the most. RRR is successful because she incorporates her Judo into her MuayThaiJiuJitsu. Reason why Anderson is so successful is because he incorporates TKD, capoeira, and other martial arts into his Muay Thai Jiu Jitsu. Reason why wrestlers are dominating the sport because they incorporate wrestling into their BJJ. Reason why Machida was so dominating was because of his Karate. The more you know the more advantageous you will be. Everyone knows Muay Thai Jiu Jitsu but not everyone is going to know whatever other stuff you know. The more you know the more "unconventional" your style will be. Conor McGregor knows this, that's why nobody moves like he moves and nobody thinks like he thinks and that's why he is the GOAT because he is decades ahead of the game. This is exactly what Bruce Lee's JKD is all about. The style of no style.

Also why all those martial art vs martial art discussion are useless. bjj vs judo, boxing vs MT etc. Just go learn all of them. You will benefit from everything. Even Aikido who Rogan claimed to be the most useless martial art in the world. They have some great jointlocks and stuff.

And to answer your question. Just about anyone who trained more than MT and boxing.
