Uncle Dana showing his empathetic side and his wisdom in relation to Nick Diaz?

“Regardless of how good he looked or what he did after such a huge layoff, I don’t think Nick should fight,” White said. “It’s not that I was in favor of it. He’s a grown man and can do whatever he wants to do. I just don’t think that Nick does it because he loves it. I think Nick does it because he has to do it. I don’t know, man. People always ask me, ‘What’s the key to success?’ It’s all about being happy and doing what you love.”

Could this explain why Nick hasn't been released by the UFC, Dana wanting to protect him from himself?

Nick needs to get in shape if he wants to fight again. Lawler was in shape so no excuses for Nick. He looked about as fit as me in that fight. Alas, I am not the typical 240 pound, ripped, 3% bodyfat sherdogger.

True. But they could still unilaterally release him if they wanted to be magnanimous. Or at least non douchebags.
Why is releasing him better than offering him fights?

Is that really the secret to success, Dana? To yours?

Freedom? Self-determination? Particularly as they don't really have any use for him. They release numerous fighters every year.

If they don’t release him, it’s because they DO have use for him.
