Uncensored boobs

i think on regular cable it would be legal, but they would worry about sponsors.

like, you turn on ESPN and they are not saying "fuck" all over it, but you can see episodes of Southpark where they say "shit" and whatever.

SP here is F this and F that at 4PM, that'd never go down in the UK though.

South Park gets away with absolutely everything here. The only thing they censored here was the Muhammad stuff back when that cartoonist got attacked by terrorists for showing him. Matt and Trey's whole show is practically based around pushing the boundaries of American TV now. If you see their behind the scenes stuff, they always talk about how they want to put something controversial on air and how they have to fight with Comedy Central.

I love that graphic violence is cool, no problems here! But if a bit of human flesh, not even in a sexual context, is shown; it has to be censored.

THINK OF THE CHILDREN DAMMIT!

Years ago I used to pay attention to which movies got an R rating in the States compared to Canada. I noticed a general trend.

R rating in states= nudity and sexual themes.
R rating in Canada= gratuitous violence.

I haven't paid attention recently to see if this still holds true.

Hate to bring up certain religion but tolerance of violence and intolerance of sexuality has always been most religions' trademark. I am sure they have some influence on the morality compass of our society and how networks decide what's decent and isn't.

I hear there's hardly any censorship on Swedish TV.

yeah I know. SP loves to push the censorship limits, but they still can't say fucked without it being censored out.

Premium channels like HBO and Showtime are uncensored, Cuffs. They show everything. If shows from those stations are re-broadcast on network or cable television, then they'll be edited. Cable has a bit more license than nationally broadcast open-airwave stuff on the major networks like ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, etc.

The FCC determines the rules.

The show gets away with the most sex scenes is American Horror Story on FX. There are multiple sex scenes in every episode

I was a 14-year-old boy in Paris, in the days before the Internet, watching some regular TV show that I could not understand. Then at 8pm, all of the sudden a new show came on, with tits, and blowjobs, and hardcore sex. It was good-old porn on the hotel TV. This was not pay-per-view, but a regular channel. Needless to say, I stayed up late that night.

For the french on this site, was I watching a regular TV channel? Or was that cable?

So what is all the kerfuffle about then?!

i thought it was determined by the advertisers, which is what premium channels don't have during their programming. i know comedy central plays a lot of movies completely uncensored when it's late.

This is what the Joe Rogan Experience told me.

The FCC has no say in what Cable channels air. Breaking Bad on AMC could show breasts and Walter White saying fuck five billion times and the FCC cannot do a damn thing about it. The thing is however those channels decide how far they are willing to push what their shows air because they need advertisers. The advertisers determine what channels will and will not air on cable. If the advertisers had no say then you'd be damn sure certain shows on cable would be showing T&A and cursing would be common place and especially the more obscene words like **** and fuck. Like you said however Premium channels like HBO and Showtime are subscription based so they don't really have a filter as to what they air and don't have any advertisers to worry about. Skinemax on Saturday nights anyone?

boobies are evil.

but there is a trade off with censorship. dubbing is absolutely hysterical.

take the line from The Big Lebowski:
"See what happens when you fuck a stranger in the ass, Larry!?"

Put it on cable and you get:
0:18

I remember my brief stay in the states where I turned on the TV and saw someone being brutally stabbed to death while screaming in agony. I quickly changed the channel and was met with that stripper movie with the girl from 'saved by the bell' in it, and they all had drawn on swimsuits.

That was a culture shock I won't soon forget that taught me a lot about america in a short period of time.

that never happened.

Yeah that is the one problem I have with movies when they aren't shown on any premium channels you end up getting the censored edited version. One of the worst is fucking Scarface because the movie is butchered for cable and regular TV. Its hilarious if you ask me

Where'd you get that scar. EATING PINEAPPLE????

that's how i've always understood it, although i could see the FCC having guidelines for network tv.
The FCC does have guidelines for television and has fined networks for breaking them. They fined CBS when Janet Jackson showed her covered breast during the Superbowl
