UN vote for Israeli withdrawal from Palestine incurs strong Washington Oppositon

god fucking damn it, i give up on america, period. lmao!

this is not a peace deal, what it does is actually FORCE a peace deal as a unsc mandate. which is the ONLY way to get a deal with likud in power. once this passes they have 1 year to work out all of the issues, and then 1 year for israel to withdraw. this is NOT too much to ask, it is the ONLY way for this to work. bibi is going to be in power for the next year, do you think he's going to work on peace without the threat of sanctions?

duuuur it just ends settlements duuuuuur.

and that is somehow bad? so much for you constant bullshit about being against settlements.

I'm not in the mood for this silly nonsense. The original war was settled with a deal saying the land dispute can't be resolved without a peace deal coming from BOTH sides. This was a point added in by the ARABS THEMSELVES who thought one day they could get more power and overthrow Israel and force it.

History. It's fun.

The US is not the only nation against the resolution - that was changed recently where it has a harder line stance.

http://www.jpost.com/Arab-Israeli-C...rt-new-Palestinian-UN-draft-resolution-386172

Lyall Grant did not explicitly threaten to use Britain's veto power to help block the Palestinian text if it is put to a vote. Western diplomats have said that if the draft is voted on before the new year it will likely fail to muster the required minimum nine yes votes for adoption.

That would mean neither Britain nor the United States would need to use their vetoes.

-------------------------------------
One theory why the draft took a harder line: The PA doesn't want to force U.S. veto and piss off U.S., so it's deliberately phrasing the resolution so it will not get nine votes, thereby pleasing both U.S. and Palestinian hardliners.

Another theory is that they think that the U.S. will veto the resolution they really want, so they might as well go for broke and, at least, get some of the council to vote for a very hard line resolution. If the resolution fails due to a U.S. veto, the Palestinians and their supporters could use the resolution to try to legitimize sanctions against Israel.

A third theory is this is their first pitch and they don't want to start with their final offer of what they really want.

but both sides are not equal as only one side has any power what so ever.

Absolutely correct, and there is where I can definitely agree with you..but by all means, carry on with the smarmy responses :icon_neut

Yawn. Giver er, give the occupied territories back and see what happens. We know that things don't have a habit of repeating themselves, no not at all. Who comes in and gives Palestine an economy and government? 5 years later, Palestine has been completely infiltrated by militant Islamists (give them any name you want) who want the complete destruction of Israel. Then they start pushing back the borders further "to 1967 borders". Then a few more years and the complete destruction of Israel is still the Islamists mandate (something that has incidentally never changed) for the Middle East. This is an endless war for the Islamists who want to control land-space in Palestine.

Just like it happened in Lebanon right?

Jews run the US....tell us something we dont know

I thought it was the rothschilds who run the whole world! (apparently), but they are Khazars???

8 years of peace between the debt-laden, mountainous country and Israel. Wait until ISIS decides it's time to move and establish the Caliphate in Lebanon. Or Hezbollah regathers. The story's not done there. Hope I'm wrong.

anyone else not surprised by this?

should Israel approve, only then would the US approve.

I don't agree with all that is in this Washington Post editorial on the subject but it makes some good points.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/opini...19435e-8f87-11e4-a900-9960214d4cd7_story.html

IN A meeting with President Obama last March, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas refused to accept a U.S.-brokered “framework” for the creation of a Palestinian state.

The U.S. draft would have backed key Palestinian demands, including a stipulation that the territory of the future Palestine be based on Israel’s 1967 borders. Had Mr. Abbas signed on, the momentum toward statehood would have greatly accelerated, and Israel’s government would have been placed under enormous pressure to put forward reasonable terms.

Instead, having refused to respond to Mr. Obama. Mr. Abbas is now pushing yet another quixotic attempt to have the U.N. Security Council impose Palestinian terms for a settlement on Israel.

this is from July/August. so because of God Israel can always get a pass according to this loon.

gotta give it to him he's staying true to his word.

When is the last time any non-Third World country let the UN boss them around? Let's be honest here - UN resolutions are a joke when applied to Israel or countless other entities.
