All these names pop up as the best pound for pound fighters? Renen. Aldo. Cain (closest) etc Etc etc.... Anyone in their right mind knows Jon Jones has been and currently is the pound for pound king. It's just weird to me that anyone else is even in the discussion. Who's the number 2 pound for pound is what should be asked. Amirite?
Aldo was p4p before Jones was a champion. Currently those two are the best though. I don't see one standing out a lot from the other. I personally think Aldo's better but Jones's claim is strong and beating Gus and DC would be huge. Aldo doesn't really have potential wins like that on the horizon. MM is close behind.
No, you're not "rite". Jones had not even started his professional career the last time Aldo lost a fight, and he has been walking through killers since. The same goes for Barao, up until tonight.
Jones was listed at P4P #1 by most media outlets and respected opinions before anyone said Aldo was #1, after Silva lost.
I didn't say p4p #1. Media rankings in MMA are pretty shitty for the most part and there were plenty of "respected opinions" that favor Aldo as p4p #1. p4p rankings are pretty meaningless anyway. I'm just saying Aldo and Jones are the two best in the sport.
I know, the topic is about P4P King, being P4P #1. Not who's been on it longer at whatever number like you want to make it about.
Aldo is #1. Jones is #2. If you think that Jones is #1, you don't understand what P4P means. Aldo is better than Jones in every facet of MMA, including his record. Aldo would beat Jones if the size were equal.
Oh and aldo has also beat everyone ranked1-5 on his division..finishing 3 of them Jones has only fought 3 outta the top5 lhw(soundly beat 2/got beat up by the other)
Lol...AND lemme know when johnny beats a former champ from the weightclass above, like aldo already has(edgar)
