UK police are warning to arrest people who are watching and sharing the recent beheading video of James Foley.

Do you agree with this? Does the UK provide its citizens with limited freedom of speech?

I thought EVERYONE would be up in arms over it in the comments section, but I see some comments SUPPORTING this action by some people in the UK:

But do we REALLY need to SEE the video ?

What sort of sick b'stard would want to watch it anyway?

This is a very good decision

I prefer not to voluntarily ruin my own day, so I never watch that shit anyway.

That being said, I'm not down with censorship.

Meh, slippery slope and all that: I get it. But if you can allow corporations use the government to block access to content based on copyright ownership, is it really so horrible that a family use the government to try to block content based on not wanting their father/son/brother's death being politicized? I mean, the propagating of this video clearly plays into the intentions of ISIS, which is the grounds they are basing their actions on.

EDIT: With that said, no one will actually be prosecuted.

Censorship fucking sucks.

They also banned the word "Ninja" from TMNT. They call it "Teenaged Mutant Hero Turtles" over there.

Arresting people seems weird, but I'm not sure why people would want to watch it.

Kids end up seeing this stuff and it can ruin them. Read one persons experience with a young kid seeing one of these videos at a friends house and became a recluse after. Lost trust in people.

It's a weird society we live in.

If more people watched the video, more people would take the threat (or at least the nature) of islamism seriously. Funny how the Terrorism Act serves mostly to protect terrorists.

Seriously, I think the police are cracking down on the sharing of this video to protect british muslims against negative popular sentiment more than anything else. In defense of multiculturalism and all that.

Someone told me it's illegal to criticize Islam in Sweden. Not sure how true that is.

We have a ridiculously rigid Hate Speech law, if that's what you mean. From what I hear though, it seems other (European) countries might have even more stringent legislation. Or at least they are more diligent in upholding said legislation.

Edit: I'm from Sweden, btw.

Sweden has been led far down the Marxist path. In some cases they are being taught that the Native swedes are immigrants and that their culture sucks. Really to justify replacement level migration.

The level of political correctness is extremely high, and free speech is taking a back seat. Not sure what the laws are, but I've heard arrests have been made for not being politically correct.

What's the charge? Is there already a law on the books that covers which videos you can and can't watch?

lol no. Perhaps he was referring to Hate Speech policy, which was referred earlier, but it's definitely not illegal to criticize Islam.

It was either Denmark or Sweden (I think Denmark) that came under fire last year because of a newspaper that repeatedly depicted and politicized Muhammad via cartoon.

Its only the met police (london) and seems a bit ott id say, not that id want to watch the video, apparantly the killer had a london accent so i guess they are concerned over reprisals etc.

That's censorship bro. What law do they believe it breaks by watching?

They can't stop someone from watching that. Dumb British police.

I agree with this post.
