UK media - Daily Mail article

That is a surprise, especially considering that the Daily Mail is known as being one of the most poorly written papers in the UK.

Daily Fail strikes again. Diabate tore his calf due to Jimi's leg kicks?

Holy Crap... the Daily Mail wrote a positive article on MMA? I generally consider them (and still do) to be the biggest pile of shit in the whole of the UK printed press.

UFC is starting to get bigger and bigger now here, the Mirror/Daily Mail have started reporting it now ! . Think the Sky TV deal is nearly done.

From the comments:
How the hell this can be classed as a sport is beyond me, same as boxing. Thugs beating up thugs, whilst the thug chav audience goad cheer with rapturous applause.

Glad to see it was voted down, and the other comments were largely positive.

MMA is still really small over here though. Dana can talk about how well the UFC guy that they have working here is doing and this and that but right now MMA/UFC is not on the radar at all when it comes to being mainstream.

Heh, that's a well written article for a site with no background in MMA journalism.

Oh god, having the Daily Mail on side is the last thing I wanted

I agree with Adam_D of Manchester, UFC is one of the best sports around.

The Daily Mail has a bizarre mix of borderline psychopathic journalists and very high quality sports reporters. If you can make it past Hitchens and the like to get to the sports section with Martin Samuel, Des Kelly and Gary Neville then you're good.

Putting it on Sky won't make it bigger , it will keep it as a fringe sport at best .

He wasn't far wrong about the crowd though. I've been to smaller shows and they are full of plantlife audiences.

This is a huge surprise. Especialy since its the daily mail covering it, and it was a well written report aswell. bout time mma was given sum media attention in this country.

Make it past Christopher Hitchens to get to the insight of Gary Neville?

Nothing in my life has prepared me to mentally parse and comprehend the consequences of that sentence. I think that's probably for the best.

I would say it's bigger than soccer.

I would say it's bigger than soccer.

Not in the UK it's not . Depending on which part of the UK you live in , football (soccer) , rugby or cricket are far far bigger than MMA .

It won't grow by being on Sky , I mean , Cage Warriors and UCMMA were on Sky and not that many people realised it was even on .

If the UFC really wants to make it a big thing is this country , it's got to be on a channel everyone can get .
