UFC's biggest stars are below 155 pounds....Deal with it

The heavier weights also have guys who have been around much longer. Plus with those examples, Belfort looked like a shell of himself after trt , so, nobody really put any stock in that fight. Then Jones was removed from a highly anticipated bout vs Rumble. Dillashaw was on free tv and Rhonda has transcended the sport.

Not disagreeing with you because I believe it's true as well but the examples here don't really paint the picture.

Rashad Evans has headlined more than 1 PPV that has over 1 million PPV.

I'm in my mid 30s so I grew up watching a lot of small boxers. Speaking of small boxers, I saw a video a while back where Prince Naseem was commenting on Conor and that dude let himself go big time. I don't know how people can do that.

Anyway, I'm quite alright with smaller fighters being the stars. They can still kick my ass.

Just as it is in boxing, it has become that way in MMA.

Reason? Lighter guys fight better, more exciting, also more of the talent is coming in the way of smaller dudes.

Conor/Mendes (B level sub) did nearly a million buys, Ronda Rousey consistently puts 500k+ ppv buys, and has a 900,000 one attached to her name.

TJ Dillashaw just did 3.5 mil on Fox.

Lol....Yet UFC 187 headlining AJ/Cormier (title fight), Weidman/Belfort (title fight), Arlovski/Browne, and Cerrone only did 500K buys.

Lighterweight guys are much more exciting and technical. it's been this way in muay thai, and mex/japanese pro wrestling for many years already.

And b4 someone calls me a MM, yes I'm 5'10 160ish pounds so i am a smaller guy as well.

By consistently do you means once as a headliner?

Haha, people making fun of small fighters. This thread attracts all the tough guys.

Didn't read after boxing was exciting. Don't get me wrong, I love Floyd's shoulder roll and head movement. I can study it for days. But there's no excitement there. Just like admiring a 20million dollar piece of art. Yea, great, but its not going to get me jumping.

Once the smaller people break GSP's, Anderson's, and Brock's records, bump this thread.

Also, didn't Brock Lesnar sell the most PPV's? I'm pretty sure he weighs more than 160.

Casuals don't count. The two heavyweight fights on the card last night blew.

Give me Dillashaw/Barao, McGregor/Aldo, DosAnjos/Pettis over ANY heavyweight fight other than maybe Fedor.

Conor and Ronda are stars

Heavyweight was popular when Brock was around

185 was hot when Chael and Silva were feuding with each other

Generally speaking the bigger divisions are more popular... But only when they have a star. Right now most are smaller and 205 thru HW is a personality wasteland, a couple crack fiends and some guy with brown pride tattood across his chest. The UFC turns into a 2003 King of the Cage indian casino card after middleweight.

You guys are fuckin dicks dude lol! :)

I for one though think middleweight and welterweight is the best right now. Middleweight is fuckin scary right now though. So many sharks.

You're comparing free card and ppv views.. Seriously ...

And it's not because smaller guys are better fighters, Ronda is a good looking female who will promote and Conor is also very charismatic and has been dominate. Chael that ppv with Anderson the first time and it did fairly close to a million. Chael's fighting isn't really fan friendly but everyone wanted to see this guy talk all this shit about brazilians back it up.

Canelo, Keith Thurman, Prod, Danny Garcia, Maidana, Lucas....yea you dont watch boxing much clearly and thats fine.

Lol GSP got 80 percent of his ppv buys from the Canadians, he had a whole country behind him...A lot different.

Keep telling yourself that:D

Cus jones is gone. Chuck is gone. Tito is gone. Brock is gone. Rampage, meh. Gsp gone. Diaz gone i think.

in no shape or form jj would sell more than ronda and mcgregor

now because of all the bs he did a comeback fight may. but in normal conditions, no

the only one that could maybe outdraw them is brock. but maybe

Growing up in Thailand with muaythai and TKD since I was a kid, Boxing eventually looked like pro-wrestling to me. Just not practical. That, and MMA came along. I think Lewis VS Tyson was the last time I truly cared. Don't get me wrong I still buy the big fights till today, and I greatly admire Mayweather's defense. I've been watching his tapes for years.

But man, he's the last one left. After he retires, boxing is dead.

None of the scrubs u listed can carry the torch. Even Pacquiao did what, 500k buys carrying a card? Come on now. Canelo's last fight wasn't even on PPV. Wasn't even available here.

Okay I just looked it up- they broke almost a decade's worth of record on HBO... drawing 2.1 million viewers! ROFLMAO. RIP in Peace. Dieded Laughing.

I'm out.

its okay buddy, boxing will still carry on as it always has....people like you been saying it will be dead for years. You must have missed Grove/Froch 2 which sold out Wembley stadium in England last year, but its okay.

ROFL, scrubs? 2.1 million is actually pretty big deal considering HBO is an exclusive channel unlike Fox or CBS. Also, boxing has come back to national TV...CBS, SPIKE etc...It's actually in pretty good standing.
