#UFC317 ‘Topuria vs. Oliveira’ Odds Revealed

I favor Ilia and will probably bet on him by tko, hopefully around -150, but It'll be interesting if Charles can put Ilia on the backfoot with teeps, straight rights, & round kicks.

Ilia is best when pressuring, ala the Volk & Max KOs. Charles needs to smother him and get into the clinch to work those knees he drained Poirier with. Pessure at range with long tools previously mentioned as well.

He's probably past his prime at this point but if he can turn back the clock for 1 night he'll be the most dangerous opponent Ilia has ever fought.

I love watching Charlie Olives fight but I've seen him crumble too many times... from the little adversity I've seen Topuria go through, he seems pretty fuckin for it... but Charles can catch anyone, standing or on the ground...

I'm not a betting man, but I don't like the odds... or maybe I might put a little scratch on CO?

I might be drunk?

Are we still doing the "Charles can't overcome adversity" thing? After the Lee/Chandler/Poirier/Gaethje fights has he not re-written this notion?

At 36 years old he likely won't be able to take the punishment but his heart shouldn't be questioned at this point.

So ilia went from a +180 to win the LW title vs Islam to a -400 to be LW champ vs Charles? And instead of thanking Islam for an easier path to be champ, he continuously talked shit to him.

I’m rooting for Charlie but ilia seems like a tough matchup for him, hope he can stay out of the close quarters boxing and prove me wrong

This just puts in perspective how silly it was for people to pretend Ilia wasn't a good fight for Islam and he needed to climb the ranks.

it's more silly when Islam is doing exactly what Topuria is doing minus savagely KOing 2 ATG champions in his division like Ilia did.

the one thing i see that makes Charles more dangerous than a Islam fight for Topuria is that Oliveira is going to go after him, he's not going to point fight him like Max and Volk tried to do. Oliveira is a kill or be killed fighter and i think that's dangerous when you're going up in weight and fighting the biggest and longest opponent you've ever fought.

I wonder how Topuria handles the clinch knees from Oliveira - seems like those could really take a lot of wind out of the sails

my guess is use the cross arm block to absorb the knees and then go to work with his boxing to the body and try to get Oliveira on the chin when he tries to exit the clinch.

One big difference I see is that Max is a boxer who chooses to fight in boxing range where Topuria lands his strongest shots. Oliveira's going to be doing the Thai clinch knees to the body and jumping guillotines and things like that
I hope that you're right - I'm pulling for Charles but I don't see him doing well (as I said, his best days are behind him).

Other than WW being backlogged I'm cool with Islam getting a shot there. But yeah acting like knocking out Volk and Max b2b is just standard run of the mill shit is kinda funny.

Sounds about right. I'm going to be real and say Olivera hasn't held on to his aura while he climbed the ranks and took everyone out. He's much older now and Topuria is in his prime.

Bro was on rollerskates getting his shit rocked by Poirier, Chandler and Gaethje. What fucking aura?

Arman should at least be the back up, he beats them both.
