I was looking at the card for UFC 179, and there are still only two fights officially listed. I have noticed that the cards aren't really filling up till a lot closer to the event...

anyone know who else might be on the card... and its less than 8 weeks away for the event, that's supposed to be in a large stadium, shouldn't the card have the official line up already

Are the guys still getting a full camps?

UFC 179
Main Card
Jose Aldo vs Chad Mendes
Phil Davis vs Glover Teixeira

UFC 180 has a total of 5 fights already (which is nearly a month after)
Cain vs Werdum
Jake Ellenberger vs Kevin Gastelum
Diego Sanchezvs Norman Parke
Ricardo Lmas vs Dennis Bermudez
Marcus Brimage vs Erik Perez

Expect at least 9 more Brazilian fighters on the card.

"full camp" is a myth. Nobody needs 8 weeks to get ready unless they've been sitting around getting fat.

And its already better that 177... those two fights are awesome so far. Expecting erick silva on this card

well training regularly and training for a fight are two different things... since most cut 20lbs at least, they need to start dieting, and they need to start training for whatever type of fighter they're up against (BJJ, Striking, Wrestling, etc)

Most guys like a 12 week camp, but 8 weeks at the minimum..

I am assuming the fighters are made aware way before its official?

They probably have fights booked but not announced yet.

could maybe see one more big fight like Machida/CB or Shogun/Lil Nog.

Like I said, if you are sitting around getting fat, you'll need more time.

Weight cuts like you are talking about don't take 12 weeks though.

if you want to do it right, and not gas.. you want to start dieting a couple months before the fight.. so you can lose more of the weight and have to do less of the dehydration crap the guys do a few days before the weigh ins..

when guys aren't in camp and eat regularly, they generally balloon up compared to when they're in camp... there are not very many fighters that fight at their natural weight classes... most guys walk around weight is 20lbs over the weight class they fight in
