Yeah it's kinda strange that people surprised by Palatnikov because first Chinese citizen signed by UFC was an ethnic Mongol and second was an ethnic Kazakh. I mean, China was represented by minorities in UFC since day one so no reason to be surprised.

Oddly enough, Sasha is short for Alexander in a lot of places while Sashka is the female equivalent of Alexandra. Seems like only in America fine ass blonde white girls get named Sasha, with absolutely no shortening involved.

Well, in Russian you can call Sasha/Sashka/Shoora both males and females, while Shoorik/Sashok is mostly used as a short form for guys.

On current UFC roster there is fighters of Russian ancestry from Brazil, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Moldova; on the last DWTNCS event scheduled for this year Russian American Maximov is gonna fight.
