It seems Pineda pretty much admitted it too. So the guy fails a test outside USADA and then gets re-signed? Is there something I'm missing here? I mean he rolled through two good fighters in Kennedy and Khabulaev last year but he very much failed a drug test.

Don't worry, USADA controls everything! They are 100% objective, I mean, why wouldn't they? After all, they get their salary from

What a bizarre signing.

A decent fighter, but definitely not a contender, and coming off of two NCs, reeking of a failed test.

Weird.

If it hadn't been for the failed tests I could have seen why they'd pick him back up, Movlid and Kennedy are both good fighters and he smashed both of them on the same night like it was nothing, but apparently he was juiced up while doing so.

Weird.

They've also re-signed Julian Erosa today, so maybe someone told someone else to sign Juicy and they signed Pineda first by mistake and now they can't cancel the contract, idk.

I get the sarcasm here but USADA doesn't get there salary from the UFC and as a Government agency would be accepting risks to fix fights for the UFC that the UFC likely doesn't have enough money to make the potential jail time and complete shut down of the agency worth it.

If the United States Postal service and MLB couldn't pay them enough to bury their scandals I highly doubt the UFC could.

Bizarre fucking signing.

Pineda is the type of guy you re-sign on 48hrs notice when someone gets injured. He isn't someone you actively target and negotiate a new deal with just to get him back on the roster.....

it does

nd as a Government agency would be accepting risks to fix fights for the UFC that the UFC likely doesn't have enough money to make the potential jail time and complete shut down of the agency worth it.

That's because they're smart about it. Their decisions are not straightforward and they have a luxury of selective testing, 2nd example testing, picogram excuses, subjectivity in ruling the suspension etc.

PFL is the UFC feeder league. I expect to see more similar signings now that UFC is the only group doing shows.

You might have some validity in your second paragraph there, though again, it seems highly unlikely the UFC can afford to make the reward worth the risk and they have to pay regardless of whether or not the UFC likes the result.

But no, they are a Government agency over seeing multiple sporting events and organizations and as a Government agency their salaries are paid by you (assuming you're an American) the Tax payer.

USADA is perfect for the UFC. Why would they drop it?

I rest my case :)

Exactly!

USADA is simply the UFC's tool to prevent fighters from taking PED, while at the same time, they can choose which fighters go to easy on, so that they can pass their tests, giving them a significant advantage.

This gives the UFC direct control and influence on whichever fighters they want to have better chance at winning, while at the same time, appear to the (naive) public as if they are running a "clean" sport.

Between that and bringing Julian Erosa (1-4 in the UFC and generally just not very good) back for a 3rd stint when he hasn't fought since they released him from his 0-3 2nd stint, it almost seems like they're hard up for viable talent or just trying to fill up as many cards as they can with cheap labor or something haha.

Just noticed you beat me to the Erosa mention haha. His is really weird since he hasn't even fought since they released him (again).

He's just happy to go on extremely short notice. It was probably either Erosa or no one.

Yeah, you’re missing the fact that there’s a pandemic and they’re in desperate need of guys to fight.
