FYI, "Key Fighters" are determined by the formula I use at MMADraws.com to rank fighters and to predict future buyrates/PPV numbers.

A list for previous years can be found on the site as well on the main page under the "PPV History" tab.

A summary of the year so far:
    9 total shows
    4,925,000 buys
    547,222 average buys

The number is already well ahead of last year's total and is on it's way to being the biggest year since 2010 (9,060,000). There's an outside shot that it could end up as the third biggest year of all time but almost no chance it passes 2009 for second place (8,025,000). The average per show is the 3rd biggest of all time right now but will likely drop with the next 3 shows expected to do relatively poorly. Even if UFC 194 does a million buys, it still probably wouldn't be enough to maintain this lofty average with the current lineups for 191, 192 and 193.

Did Dave confirm the 189/190 yet?
I thought they were both still up in the air.

Either way, good job & good year for UFC

Shame that DJ only did 125k... Guy such a great fighter, he deserved much more!

Mighty Mouse ruining the PPV record for everybody.

What they should do next year (if Jones comes back) is to rotate Jones, Conor and Rousey as the headliners on their PPVs and put a strong co-main, preferably another championship bout. Get 9 events with 900K average buys and break the 8 million PPV mark.

Imagine if Jones and Silva didnt screw up and continued to fight atleast one more time each this year and if they could have gotten Brock back or GSp came back.

Could have had best PPV year ever if those things played out.

He said on the most recent podcast that I heard that it was a "little over 800", the 825,000 number I got from Wikapedia, which sources MMAPayout.com

The 900,000 number for 190 I've seen on Wikapedia, Tapology and MMAPayout. If Dave gives out a number that contradicts that, I'll update the info on my site.

Pretty good numbers, I imagine 191 will be the weakest PPV but I think will still do well. There has been a lot of attention surrounding Johnson in the media not being a big draw so I am sure the UFC pumped so more money into that. I think 191 will do around 200 to 300K. 192 and 193 should do ok around 400k and 194 should break the mill. I think they will finish around 7 million. Which would be great, 3 shows close to a mill and an average or roughly 540k per show

125k is such an extreme outlier, it's incredible; it's less than half of the next lowest selling PPV.

Ya, crazy that only Ronda and Cormier have headlined multiple PPVs to this point in the year. Although in my YTD rankings, Conor would be just behind Ronda on the strength of the big TV number in January.

Look at last year and see what number jumps out....

DOH! Right after I posted it, I noticed the TJ show....two shows in the same range do not make an "outlier!"

Cut these about in half and you'll see what the real numbers were.

dont know if youre being sarcastic but TJ vs soto was literally made the day before when renan got ko'd by the bath tub. if the rematch happened i would guess the buys would be significantly higher (yet still low)

ronda doing 900k buys last card is absolutely outstanding. imo that was one of the worst ppv cards ever (on paper). im shocked at how low the numbers were for ufc 187

a big part of ppv buys and trends is a lot of fans tuning in and being impressed. i think ufc 189 + ronda + conor + the return of jones will produce some big events next year. i think both weidman and TJ will build a fan base with continued success. the ufc only needs 3 ppv stars to have a great ppv year. when jones clears up his legal issues this will blast his ppv numbers. love it or hate it, its a story people will tune in to

ronda + conor + jones could headline 8 million ppv buys alone next year. of course a few things need to go right for that to happen but its not a long shot or anything imo
