We all know how they announced the fight before JJ agree'd to the date, now they. Need him to sign it because august isnt that far away, the longer he stalls the tighter of a spot the UFC will b in to find a decent replacement, most fighter want a 3 month camp, this is already not a possibility, basically JJ has them right where he wants them, they need hI'm way more then he needs them at this point, smart move on JJ's part to enter the renegotiation phase at this point

Not really. Is Jones going to shit on the UFC again after UFC 151. They are trying to control him. He didn't play ball last time. Now he has leverage with his contract up but he needs UFC a lot more than UFC needs him.

I like that Jon (and his management) are looking out for himself instead of just being a company guy.

nah- the ufc can shame him into signing, or postpone the date/venue.

Don't forget that UFC can market another fighter in replacement to JJ. Gus & Cormier would be the most likely candidate. If UFC dumps JJ, that would be goodbye to Bentley...UFC got him by the balls. He may ask a bit more than what he's currently getting but He wouldn't want to be greedy at the moment.

Im not a Jones fan by an means. I respect his crazy fighting ability. I think its great for a fighter to put some heat on the UFC. A lot of people stick up for Dana/UFC on how fighters shouldnt complain about fighter pay because they are the ones that signed the contract. Well for once a top fighter is doing something about it. More top fighters should do this.

You really think Bones isn't training already for this fight? The dude isn't stupid. He knows it's coming. He's very protective of his image, so he wants this fight as much as we do: to show he isn't scared of The Mauler. And by the way, the UFC and JJ need eachother. JJ has too much self-respect to leave and go fight cans in some wannabe promotion and the UFC has invested alot in him trying to make him a star. And let's face it, nobody else wants to see JJ fight cans either. Sure his PPV numbers may not be as good as GSP's were, but they are still damn profitable for the UFC so long as he is fighting killers.

Exactly.

yes and no . dana could always let him go ( never gonna happen) but there is always a chance if ufc really wants to prove the point that they are the boss

Hmm I don't agree, the ufc fucks the fighters over on pay big time with ppv percentages. If Jones left the ufc,no one would take any 205 champ seriously as Jones mauled everyone and left.

If Bellator can hit 100k + ppvs,if Jones left and Joined them or hell even started his own promotion with just a bunch of lower level guys and a semi decent guy for the main event he could probably hit 150k buys easy on his own,Maybe even 350k like he does in the ufc.

But say he hit 150k buys and he kept 20 dollars for every ppv bought,he would earn as much as he would if he sold 1m for the ufc.

Hell I could see Bellator offering him $15 on ppv points, forcing the ufc to match or let the pound 4 pound best fighter in the world join a rival promotion

The kid just fought, and now they want to book him immediately, against a fighter he already beat, after only fighting 1 fight to get back to the title. I dont blame him for not wanting to take the fight ASAP, he should be able to rest a little before being forced to step in again.

I do feel Jones deserves more money but to say Gas doesn't deserve a rematch yet is crazy in my opinion

That would be a PR nightmare for the UFC. Both parties have a good amount of power in these negotiations.

That would be a PR disaster.

I think JBJ earned the right to demand a whole lot more than he is earning.
He's the number 1 fighter in UFC (the Ronda spectacle is maybe = & She deserves more money also.) I'm a weird fan of JBJ, I enjoy watching his fights but mostly hope he fucks up at some point and gets destroyed. Very similar to Miami with Lebron I like to watch them but I pray for them to lose most of the time.
