Well the subtitle says it all, we had: Lombard vs PaulHarris - Great fight for Lombard, he showed what he can do when he engages and he's got some impressive gap breaking and quick feet. But for Palharas, he again just shut down when the fight wasn't going his way. And it wasn't going his way from the opening bell. No surprise really, just maybe needs different trainers or mental training or w/e to help him. Freakshow vs. Warmachine - Warmachine came out hard with a new accent and different tattoos, plus a gameplan to stifle the long reach of Freakshow by getting close and getting the takedown. It became apparent though, he didn't even need to use it because freakshow never established his jab or his range. FS was either too far away wasting movement or way too close getting tagged. Another thing I didn't like was his hands were down while he moved straight in on his toes. Nothing about that performance made me think he had ever trained with someone smaller than him. It was like watching a role reversal live. WM fought long, FS fought short. bizarre, frustrating. Aussie vs. Buttertoothed Brit - It was a good scrap, the first round i thought aussie pushed the gas just enough to steal it, then the brit took over with his grappling in the second. Then in the third, the brit decided it was time to stand right in front of the aussie and let him rearrange his face for some reason. Which was awesome, but still frustrating that he didn't even try to use his grappling advantage in the third when the scorecards were so close. Pearson vs GSot - Idk if its more often than not, but it seems when one fighter gets another hurt they just take their foot completely off the gas, get out of the car and stare at the pavement. Pearson had Gsot hurt and looked overly cautious, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but in the second round he still seemed super tentative ultimately letting george back in the fight. which is great if you had bet on george b/c at that point it looked like gsot was on his way to jabbing a dear in headlights all the way to a decision. But george wanted some more power shots so he had seconds and thirds and danced for us again and again. the frustrating thing was when pearson followed him around like a lost puppy, he didn't try to setup his shot. Getting rocked and knocked down so many times, you'd think his corner should have tossed that idea out there. Good to see Joe Martinez back though
Joe Martinez did a great job tonight. Even though Im not a fan of Lombard it was a gimme fight to build him. I was still happy to see him win though because I dislike Palharas.
How can you complain about the main event though? G sot got hit, took some shots. Recovered, then got back in the fight round 2. Inbetween rounds, pearson's corner told him target the body to set up head strikes which will lead to the finish. Pearson obeyed and won by ko minutes later. Good fight.
i liked the event, i just saw 4 main card fights where at least one fighter in each of them consistently did something frustrating that i think led to them losing. gsot did get pearson down when he tried. after that, he stopped trying and started mimicking a punching bag. especially when pearson stopped throwing shots and started to eat jab after jab. im sure gsot was still rocked, but he could have easily followed up with a shot behind one of those jabs.
i didn't think the brit looked all that similar to forrest tbh, but forrest is a frustrating fighter as well at time, especially when he runs out of the cage win or lose lol
