Without PRide or STrikeforce, only bellator in the mix, in order for a product to really shine they need a competitor.

Look at the car industry, how do people know which is better? I think Bellator needs to really improve their product and get serious about drug testing and make it a legit org not just putting on the retirement tour but building young stars

This way we can get more exciting fights in MMA and the competition factor, if you remember Pride vs UFC days it was great, it made good conversation and good interest.

People get tired of one product

It is what it is.

As long as there is Bellator, Rizin, Invicta and all the boxing, and pro wrestling. People have a choice.

No

If they have no competition they have more talent and therefore better cards.

This isn't a TV show where it forces the creative side to up their game.

If only there was a competing organization that signs young athletes with potential to be stars.

I'm thinking about signing guys right out of NCAA championships...or even guys that have made a name for themselves on the jiu-jitsu circuit.

I mean they have no competition now so hows their talent and better cards doing? Ppv buys going up? Ratings going up? Tv deal going up?

Ufc needs competition. The competition makes you change and evolve. Without competition you get complacent. When you’re complacent fans get turned off.

This would be better applied if UFC had a proper matchmaking system based on merit, points and a credible ranking system.

Having fighters in different organizations unable to fight each other is the opposite of more interesting imo.

This isn’t college wrestling though. Ufc is a business. Dana white doesn’t care who the number one and number two welterweight is, he just cares about what fights will get the most buys. Rightfully so. Businesses should make money

If Bellator starts doing USADA testing I'm gonna be fuckin furious

I think I have to disagree. After the UFC bought out the competitive orgs--Pride and Strikeforce--the cards started getting a lot more watered down. More competition means the UFC would have to put on better fight cards to get people to buy.

All the other MMA organizations around are collectively competition in terms of taking talent.

It's promoting a fight, there isn't any need to re-invent the wheel, just get the best fighters and have them fight.

Wanting the UFC to have competition is retarded
When the UFC and PRIDE were around we missed out on a lot of great fight because of "competition", YAY!!

Because they started doing more shows and took on WMMA *sigh

It doesn't mean they'd put on better fights, more competition means less talent and less shows

It's a money-making business. It's also a business that claims to be a sport.

The NBA is also a business involved in the sport of basketball, but you don't see the Chicago Bulls getting a guaranteed shot at the finals when Michael Jordan came out from his first retirement. How'd you get about thinking running a proper sports company wouldn't bring in the money?

Are you also one of those guys who defends Conor not defending his belts because he's somehow rich, as if you get a share of that money?

I'm a consumer, and competition among businesses is always good for the consumers. So unless you're a UFC shareholder or somehow waiting to inherit Dana White's wealth, it's utterly baffling how, as an MMA sports fan (that's if you are one), you think it's "rightfully so" that Dana doesn't care who the No 1 & 2 fighters are.

Bellator has signed a lot of top level collegiate wrestlers, and also signed up Aaron Pico who was a high school standout wrestler and if he went to college would probably be top dog in his weight class.

Bellator just doesn't do much in building stars they do their best but they are not on the level of UFC in terms of clout and promotion plus its tape delayed on the westcoast. We have to watch a tape delay which sucks.

Competition would force UFC to co promote, remember Dana White was bringing some of his guys to fight in PRIDE?

It takes egos to drop for the better of the sport, maybe WME is open to co promotion, it would be better if they had a belt like WBC does in boxing, instead of only orgs having UFC or bellator champion, this way we can crown a legit WORLD champion not org specific.

As a fan, I just want to see their future stars fight more often.

Pico, Ruth, Fortune, Storely, etc.

3 out of those 4 guys don't cut much weight. Plus, hasn't the last two Pico fights ended with him getting quick KOs?

How much turnaround do they need (and still stay healthy) vs. How often does Bellator want them fighting?
