Cyborg hasn't competed in MMA since July, 13, 2013.

So basically in 2015 the UFC is bringing an essentially inactive fighter who's never even competed @ 135 lbs in to fight R3.

This fight should have happened two or three years ago when Cyborg actually had a chance to beat R3.

Now she has no chance and just like all the cans Cyborg has crushed during her career she's in for a similar beating like the one she took in her last Muay Thai endeavor.

    WAR R3

In my humble opinion, not likely.

Cyborg's best chance to beat R3 was early in R3's careeer.

That ship has sailed much like my interest in this fight.

If this fight happens, Cyborg will find out that fighting Rousey is a lot harder than fighting 120 lb Asian girls. But it will never happen.

They won't risk her fighting Ronda til she is shot out.

    I'm not scared, I'm confident in R3.

However, this fight would've been even bigger a couple years ago.

Cyborg's literally done nothing for two fucking years.

Except all of her fights have been at 145+.

And yet it's still bigger than anything else they can put together. There's Zingano, and... ? A fight against Cyborg would still do bigger numbers than Zingano. What does that tell you?

The truth is, she never had a chance against Ronda anyways.

This. Cyborg has next to no chance - even at 145 - in my opinion. And Ronda would be especially motivated to hurt Cyborg, so I suspect the fight would like a lot like Rousey-Budd fight.

Or it could be exactly what UFC wanted. Get the arguable best female fighter ever (who isn't really that marketable), put her past her prime in a different weight class, in with your marketable champion, and hope your champion pulls it off. Boom, ronda is the best ever, having beaten the best from a higher weight class. Promo central, $$$.

I think you underestimating the draw power of Beth.

But yeah to your point it's still a big fight even though in 2015 Cyborg's basically bringing nothing to the table except ancient history.

She was already signed to the ufc but asked to be released. There was a press conference with Tito and two other people on inside mma to announce it .

    Cyborg messed up with Cyborg.

Most people argue that cyborg was the best female fighter in mma. Get her past her prime in a different weight class to hopefully lose to your champion. It's a marketing tactic, and an effective one if it works.

So, you saw the other thread about Lorenzo in negotiations with cyborg, and felt that you had to make your own thread to tell us it's too late? Cool story.
