UFC is unflavored sh*t right now (another rant)

still consume this crap because it’s all we’ve got, but lately even that’s happening less and less. I just keep praying for a worthy competitor to show up...though I doubt that’s gonna happen anytime soon

Except it's really not. Fightpass is loaded with local events now. You've got more access to MMA today than you do at any point in history.

If a different brand logo is going to make you more excited, it shows you're not really a fan of martial arts. You're a fan of the "show".

It's kinda like when you see those bomb ass food carts, or legit local spots that end up getting bought up for millions by some mega company. Quality goes down horrendously, price goes up, they start making replica spots where the quality goes even further down and they become a shadow of what made the original product so good.

The UFC is doing the same thing.

This is what's happening to everything these days.

Corporate shittification. Extracting every ounce of passion and quality from these industries to line the pockets of greedy investors looking to increase their profit margins, even if they have to extract blood from a stone to do it.

This is why pride produced a better product. It wasn't just about the money, but the love and passion for martial arts, putting on the best event and fights possible.

Slowly, that love is being replaced by soulless corporate greed and influenced by outside entities that likely couldn't care less about the sport and just see it as another profit machine to line their pockets with.

That being said, there's still great fights and events, it could just be done so much better. The approach is why so many people have been slowly losing their love for MMA I feel.

biggest mistake was trying to force this into being a “serious sport.” In the process, they stripped away everything that made it exciting in the first place. They stopped giving fighters room to shine. No more personal sponsors.., no real personality outside the cage unless you’re a company favorite.
And the whole USADA era. Yeah, sure, clean sport...but it completely wrecked the heavyweight division, and made it harder for fighters to recover and fight more often. It didn’t make the sport safer, it just made it more boring.

What we used to have was controlled chaos. Now it’s just sanitized, corporatized, flavorless content. All to make it look like a sport, when it was always meant to be entertainment.
I disagree, but at least you stated your point.

The worst part? They’re prob still selling like crazy, even while pushing this low quality product. Let’s be real this isn’t a sport. It’s entertainment. And ever since they started trying to make it look like a real sport, that’s when everything started going downhill. Now it's just soulless...but people keep buying it anyway.

They put out way too many events, and people have started to normalize these garbage cards...like UFC 315, and even UFC 314 was bad. Don’t be a Dana White fanboy. This year, I haven’t watched a single full card from the prelims to the main event.

And it's not just about the downgrade in the fights..everything feels off now. Even the ceremonial weigh-ins have gone downhill. They replaced those epic soundtracks from a couple of years ago with generic trash. Everything feels so bland and uninspired.

I guess they just don’t care anymore. But because they have the privilege of having no real competition in the market, they can do whatever the hell they want.
Then don’t watch UFC anymore. All you fucking cry babies here bitch and moan about the same shit, nonstop.

Feel free to watch anything else. If the UFC ever did go away, you and every other cry baby like you would cry that they miss UFC.

This place is worse than a soap opera with all the complaining. Fuck.

They affected changes to transition MMA into an acknowledged sport long before sponsor rule changes. Zuffa instantiated these way back with the unified rules.

People always have the rose tinted glasses on when talking about how UFC used to never have bad cards, news flash theres always been bad cards.
I view the product like i always have done, theres good cards, theres bad cards and i just move on to the next one rather than endlessly bitching about it on an online forum.
I dont see the point in it tbh, if the product is that bad for you do something else with your time.

Wait...do you really think most of the top fighters aren't still on peds?

If so I have some ocean front property in Kansas to sell you.

Honest question- have you got all.your eggs in one basket?

Why not branch out?

I fell in love with the sport in an era with PrideFC, WEC, Strikeforce, K1, before that boxing, still boxing....

Now there is BKFC, boxing is doing better than it has in a while.

Glory is putting on solid kickboxing events, grand prix style.

Mi hear yuh loud an' clear 👂🏿c'mon oot di closet now chil' an embrace yuh true self wid pride

The big names are thinning out for sure. The UFC has put on some good cards with lesser known names that usually gets skipped when talking about this. Some of those garbage Apex cards are actually great fight nights start to finish. But it's no secret UFC is riding on it's brand recognition and monopoly power to sell the cards now. They are paying fighters the least and making the most from ESPN, so it's all their short sited strategy to milk ESPN.

UFC 315 looks like absolute dogshit right now. In fact, it has the potential to be the worst card in the last 5-10 years.

I'm actually shocked they haven't added another main card fight to it.

How the fuck is that thing going to sell. If belal is your biggest draw then you're fucked. That guy couldn't sell lubricant at a gay orgy.

How 'bout little Rampage vs that lady that took his virginity at 5 ?

I’m honestly starting to believe that all these people saying UFC is poor at the moment, and UFC has lost its stars …. Etc, are just the Conor fan boys leaving the sport. UFC has had Great cards, good cards, and Meh cards for the past 20 years. To say 314 was bad is ludicrous. 314 was a prettt solid card with some great finishes.
