UFC is making fans who go to live events sit there for 6 hours for 2 hours of fights.

im always late to everything so its not a bad thing for me. Last UFC I got to the arena when the main events starts.

i don't see why you couldn't speed things up if fights end early, especially during prelims.

So then should they start the PPV early if all the prelims are 1st rd KO's?
Just tell people "Hey I know you tuned in at the proper time and paid 50-60 bucks for the PPV but the prelims ended early so you missed the first 3 main card fights . Sorrys"

Why does it matter? I don't understand what people are crying about

how about trying to improve the experience for the fans?

do you enjoy going to a sporting event for 6-7 hours? if there were a way to shorten it, you wouldn't be in favor of it?

no one's really crying , just asking if it can be improved.

The whole event is definitely too long..
Its like fuckin baseball..
Over 5,6 hours is definitely too long.

Except the undercard isn't the event. It's there to get people warmed up, to give them time to come in on their own time, to give lower level fighters some fights, and to give the broadcasters some filler fights in case the main card moves too fast.

Some large concerts go 5 or 6 hours before the main act even takes the stage. If this bothers you, all you need to do is just show up for the main act.

It's like complaining that a football game is too long because of the tailgate party.

Another poster trying to justify being cheap/poor.

The thing is I don't think it can. I know somebody asked about a Brazil card once where they re-showed the same prelims over and over to kill time. Dana admitted it was embarrassing for them but that they had to kill some time in order to get the co-main to line up with the Globo broadcast. I'd imagine Fox says the same to them.

If you grew up too small to play team sports and could only do martial arts then you wouldn't understand.

Believe me there 70k fans in that stadium rocking when that play happened.

Nah I grew up playing team sports and in the process learned to hate them (playing them, watching was still fun to me).

I believe you I've been to a few stadiums were way less exciting things happened and people got up and cheered. It's just nothing I've seen in any other sport has made me jump the way I did when I saw Anthony Pettis run up a cage and kick a dude in the face. I felt like I was watching a movie.

Honestly I think Basketball is way more impressive with the things I've seen people do. Watching Jordan play and do some of the things he did was just amazing. I think what it is, is I'm way more impressed by people going out there and doing things by themselves.

The Pettis kick was cool but I think it was only #2 on ESPN top plays of the week. I don't think the Barboza kick was #1 either. People in the states enjoy team sports more.

Why not just assume that a live, televised sporting event is going to have some sitting around time where they're doing stuff on TV that you can't see. Seriously, the whining on this board is getting out of control if this is what it's coming to. People are so ridiculous in that they think that every single second of every single thing that they do has to be exclusively about them. It doesn't and it isn't.

do you enjoy going to a sporting event for 6-7 hours?

No, I don't. And if you don't want to, then plan accordingly.

no one's really crying

There is tons of crying going on on this board, and this is by far the dumbest thing I've seen people cry about.

Yep, the UFC couldn't afford them.

Imagine Dana asking Beyonce to perform before a UFC event.

This is what A- Level athletes can do. It's more exciting than watching lay n pray and guys with Mo Hawks with sloppy striking

Thank God no one sings in MMA, you can keep it with your "5 Seconds of running a-level athlete".

Go on.

Yep its an easy sport to play, I'm sure you would be a monster! What position do you think you would play?

6 hours if the event is at a casino is a good time..
6 hours at an arena in ohio is torture.

Not really. I've been to two UFC shows in Vegas. One in MGM and one in Mandalay. Its no different. You don't exit the arena to go gambling in between fights. Well, I guess you could, but you never know when the next fight is going to start so most people just do bathroom/beer breaks during intermissions.

Maybe because you are on tv?

When a main card starts at 8pm and they have 6 fights they have to plan for on the prelims which is 3 hours if they all end early and they speed it up and the last prelim ends an hour and 15 minutes before the main card starts on tv then what?

Just run an hour worth of commercials and desk stuff?

And you cant start earlier cause you have to plan for all fights going the distance so you dont go over the time and not get to air all the fights.

Wait wait are you telling me that people can actually run and hold a ball at the same time. I mean running is exciting and holding a ball is pretty good... but they can do both together that is the most exciting thing I've ever seen!

Dana, you dont see him making guys run into each other and breaking ankles and tearing ACLs with his quickness?
