Wow they respected the sherdog rage for once
There is approximately zero percent chance that the changes had anything to do with that.Wow they respected the sherdog rage for once
Carlos on the main card for me
Oh get over it.I swear they're fucking with us sometimes with these WMMA placements on the main card. Surely they're joking.
Still a shitty bout order, which makes the card look worse than it is. I miss the Lorenzo/Joe Silva days when the best fights were put in order from top to bottom.
I hope so. I have a hard time seeing Wonderboy beating this version of Usman, that being said if he beats Burns convincingly he deserves it.WB gotta make a statement and throw Duckington back in the line where he belong
I understand the point. I just feel like better fighters deserve the main card push, like Ilia Topuria or Sean Brady(I know you said his style is not fan-friendly, but I think he matches up well with Kevin Lee and could give an impressive performance). For everyone complaining about the WMMA fight on the main card:
- Aldana is #4 WBW, Kunitskaya is #5 WBW, this fight has future title shot implications. How can you promote the champions of a division, or keep the divisional fighters happy in general, if you're not putting the top contenders on the main card?
- the goal is not to rank order the bouts from worst to best. they want an ebb and flow to the event and exciting fights in certain spots such as prelim opener and closer and main card opener. The best fights should be where people are most likely to either start watching or stop watching.
- Aldana-Kunitskaya is likely to go to decision but it's sandwiched between O'Malley-Smolka and Hardy-Tuivasa which are both likely to produce KO/TKO finishes. In terms of talent those two men's fights don't belong on the main card but O'Malley is a draw and casuals like heavyweights.
- Kevin Lee is only the #11 LW and unranked at WW, Sean Brady is the #14 WW. Brady is really good but he doesn't have the most fan-friendly style. If Lee is serious about switching divisions he's kind of starting over in terms of relevance.
- If I had to guess, there are almost zero people who will buy the PPV if the fifth-best fight on it is Kevin Lee but not if the fifth-best fight is WMMA with future title implications.
That's great! Now let's put them on free TV and get them some exposure so the rest of world knows. They are both ranked in the Top 10.
