UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell supports "good dude" Jon Jones.

What message are we sending to people when we consider marijuana a violation of the UFC code of conduct and cocaine is not?

what message are we sending people when we dance around the fact that Diaz tested positive for marijuana in the Post fight test whereas Jones was randomly tested way before his fight.

the rule is about the post fight test. Stop acting like you don't know that and admit that the problem is that the rule is unfair because marijuana stays in your system so long compared to just about every other drug.

He's right. Jones made a mistake. Are all of you on Sherdog perfect or are perfect role models? None of us are, this is real life. Give Bones a break.

Tell that to all the fighters who got nailed for marijuana and gave up their purse, got suspended and/or fined. This guy tests positive for coke it becomes a non issue?? How can testing positive for cocaine NOT be a violation of the UFC code of conduct?

Why is marijuana something they test for and not coke? These are better questions to ask rather than rhetorical questions regarding the regular Sherdog's level of perfection.

You didn't answer my question at all. Thanks for trying though. All that rabbling kinda has a faint glimmer of sense.

They don't test for marijuana and not coke - they don't test (or aren't supposed to test) for either out of competition. They do test for both in competition. Diaz and Healy, for example, both tested positive for marijuana metabolites on post fight "in competition" tests, and were suspended for it. Melvin tested positive for cocaine in a post fight "in competition" test and was fined/suspended as well.

Life isn't fair. People are hating on Jones as a person when they've never hung out with him a day in their life.

Sheeit, they've probably done lines together lol.

It's nice to see former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell support Jon Jones. What is your reaction?

Yes, it's nice (as well as shocking) to see current recipient of tons of Zuffa cash, for doing virtually nothing except pimping Zuffa products, Chuck Liddell choose to say something in favor of the Zuffa Gravy Train.

This really means a lot to me.

To answer your question no, we're not role models. At least those of us who aren't parents, uncles, teachers, firemen, or UFC frickin champions

Man, it's just like everyone's opinion re: Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin, Bin Laden, etc... If only there was SOME way to judge character without meeting someone

Didnt Jones want to fight him and called him one dimensional

I think other way around. Chuck said something to the effect that in his prime, he thinks he could catch him. He wouldn't though. He'd get smashed and I love Chuck but he's no Jones.

Not surprising is it.
You can tell by this forum alone - those who have done coke will support Jones.

Chuck is a UFC employee, so naturally he'll be on the same page as Dana and brass. I've noticed even Fighter and the Kid podcast not touching the Jones topic and normally Schaub loves to talk about steroid controversies. Everyone is putting up a silent front about the topic it's hilarious.

Jones didn't get busted for steroids:rolleyes:

Yes mass murdering is a pretty significant character defect that wouldnt require knowing somebody personal. But it seems like a pretty silly comparision to make a point. How much of Jones character do you think you are at liberty to speak on based on the knowledge that he did coke at least once? And do you use this same standard on people in your real life when it comes to drugs? Anybody that has done drugs at least once you write off? Nobody is saying doing coke is a good thing. I think what a lot of people are saying is that it isnt necessarily some huge thing. Im more concerned how he treats his children then if a 27 yr old millionaire does a little coke when out partying. And I could continue to make comparisons but Id immagine you get the point. There are a lot more important things to look at imo.

And the kind of people prone to leaps in logic, assumptions, accusations, and character assasination. Plus disingenous debate tactics. Anyone who doesnt agree with that clearly is a pedophile.

Yeah, no shit. Chuck Liddell the party animal supports partying.

Ridiculous. Comparing the ability to judge despotic dictators responsible for heinous genocides with a fighter (with douchey tendencies) who got popped for blowing lines on his own time.
