All this time we were comparing fighters from Bellator and Strikeforce to the UFC when in reality they can't even hang with the WCL. This dude lasted longer than Johny Hendricks.
He finished this guy with the same technique he used to win his UFC debut.Jesus, he murked that guy. Sound of that kick landing was awesome. JUST BLEED!!

First time posting because this is what I've been thinking for years now about how little movement and sharp technique UFC fighters have had. Silva, Machida, Pettis and guys like that were steadily raising the bar, but last night was the test of Rory who's only trained traditional "MMA" and Thompson who's undeniably TMA/Kickboxing old school standup. UFC has thrived off of the tactic of taking fighters to the ground and avoiding the process of training razor sharp technique, timing and distance. Once people learned how to avoid the ground as fighters had for millenia the traditional forms of striking are taking their rightful dominance again.
Rory was literally covering up defensively moving forward like a zombie to even get close to striking range. The whole point of Martial Arts has been to avoid damage while inflicting it like Thompson utilizes, not stumble forward blindly behind raised arms where you can't see. It's going to be a poison pill to MMA to go back to TMA tactics and training seeing how MMA has been crowing for a decade how TMA doesn't work, but the tables are turning as they always do! Treditional MMA(Muay Thai, BJJ, Wrestling, Boxing) deosn't work against TMA(Kempo, Shotokan, Tae Kwon Do, JJJ, Chin Na, Kung Fu) that will not get taken down.
Time to dust off the Dojo memberships eat your ego's and train distance, speed and timing like we all did back in the day. Us old TMA dogs have all the Thompson tricks, plus effective takedown D thanks to U young buck MMA guys. Fighting is about the feet not the ground in reality!
Cecil Peoples is an atrocity as a referee. Imho. They were moderately engaging, and he was like "fight fight fight" forcing them to basically run together.
