And why not have mma in the olympics? I thought that actually was one of the original games called pankration?

It would be fun to watch, but guys would have to fight like 3-4 times in 2 weeks. Kind of a brutal schedule, especially for the basically no money they would make.

are they allowed? sure, they jsut aren't good enough in their own respective sport, for the most part.

Sending UFC fighters to olympic MMA probably wouldn't do either. It would benefit from a boxing type system, an amateur thing, if you get a gold medal, you're immediately a bigger deal in pro mma. But you don't actually want mma in the olympics because you wouldn't complain about it being watered down.

It would bring a lot of esposure to the fighters and UFC, i would imagine, but IOC probably dont want such a brutal sport at their games.

I think submission grappling is more friendly to viewers.

No. Anderson Silva wanted to compete this year for Brasil's taekwondo team, but like the the boxing match he wanted to have Roy Jones, the Baldfather put a veto to it.

Because MMA isn't a sport, it's human cockfighting. Fighters aren't athletes.

As mentioned earlier UFC fighters are used to fight twice a year with 10 week long training camps. Fighting 3-5 times in a 2 week period requires a very different level of athleticism.

Mma is a real sport. Let the olympics have their fun with fencing and Greco Roman Touchbutt.

lol he wouldn't even make regional qualifiers, let alone get on the national team. The nature of olympic TKD is more like fencing than boxing, so speed is the most important factor.

If MMA was in the Olympics they'd pussify the rules to where it would just be frustrating to watch. No thanks.

MMA by itself is practically already like an MMA Olympics anyways.

If I see someone in here that's been bitching about fighter pay for the last 5 years promoting Olympic MMA I'm gonna smack the shit out of you.
