UFC Fight Night 29: Joey Beltran vs. Fabio Maldonado PBP (Discussion)

because watching the fight it was obvious Beltran won rounds 1 and 3. therefore 29-28.

so that means robbery/bullshit.

1) 24-23 Maldonado, 2) 55-22 Maldonado, 3) 43-29 Maldonado

what did he do with the takedowns?

No but landing legal strikes while holding said person against the cage is winning...either you are blind or were watching porn on your blackberry instead of watching the fight if you didn't see the clear punches and knees landing in the clinch for Beltran.

They were both landing from that position, but much of the time, Beltran was just ineffectually hanging on and going for hopeless take downs as Maldonado grabbed double underhooks.

Anyone who wants to bet, throw the house on Maia, there is no way Shields is doing anything more than a few jabs to steal a round or what not and given that it's in Brazil, they won't even count so that fight is now a lock (if it wasn't already).

i don't score fights by "stats from Twitter" i use my eyes. my eyes saw 29-28 Beltran, and again rounds 1 and 3 were not even close.

all maldonado did was throw a piss weak jab in the third round. takedown +GNP + agression + sig strikes > piss weak jabs.

This was a very easy fight to score (Beltran clearly won the first and third), but I knew the judges would f*ck it up. This always happens in Brazil.

You're arguing with people who will use whatever they can to support a totally implausible argument.

Other than at the end of the 3rd, the clinching in that fight consisted of Beltran stalling and trying to look active enough to prevent the ref from breaking them up.
I get what you're saying, and I agree for the most part. But he had the "dominant" position with his weight on Maldonado against the cage

Just going by memory Beltran blasted him with a straight right and landed a couple huge elbows that knocked Fabio's mouthpiece out.

Most of Maldonado's strikes were jabs, many without much power.

I had a lot of money and Maldonado and wrote the bet off.

i picked fabio. and i thought he lost.
