Does anyone think it would be sweet if the UFC started using coloured gloves? I know some other orgs use red and blue, also white. I know the base of the current UFC gloves are red or blue according to the fighters corner. Is there a reason not to use coloured gloves? Would they be popular?
It would certainly be more straightforward than saying one fighter is in the black shorts, and the other in the black/grey or whatever. The only counter argument I can see is that sometimes the gloves may not be visible during grappling, but you can almost always see the shorts.
Don't really care. I did like SF's gloves a lot however. They were iconic. When I replay historic SF fights in my head, I can see the gloves clear as day along with the moment. UFC avoids beng flashy with their production. The focus is completely on the fight alone.Fighters walk out through the crowd even.
The gloves are black, but they use red/blue tape depending on the corner. I can't say changing the colour of the actual glove would do much for me tbh.
No, colored gloves in the UFC would look stupid IMO black has worked out just fine. Though I wouldn't mind if they had the chicks wear pink gloves to differentiate MMA from wmma
Black gloves tend to look smaller and less significant, and I think they help promote the sport's image. If the gloves were white, they would look enormous and heavily padded.
Why? So they can bite off strikeforce? (yeah i know they bought them out but it's still a strikeforce thing to me) Black gloves with corner tape is fine.
Interesting point. Also, white gloves splattered in red blood would not help mma enter any new mainstream markets which is pretty much the UFC business plan.
The blue pride gloves were my favorite, loved how clearly they contrasted with the bright white canvas, UFC however a is all about a tough guy skulls and dragons type of image it seems so I don't see them switching the black gloves any time soon
They also need another octagon that's covered with flowers, dollhouses and pink teddy bears for WMMA.
They could do red and black or white and black if they're worried about their theme. It would be handy for the announcers, as was pointed out above. Pointing out the red and blue tape is a little harder to spot.
