it has to be the injury bug that hit most of their champions.
Heck, let us see:

Cain: Last fight - Junior Dos Santos, October last year
Jones - leg injury
Weidman - Injured hand
Hendricks - torn bicep
Pettis - knee injury
Aldo - I think it was leg, or back... that's besides of his kidney stones.
TJ - Not much on him, but this happened to his opponent, Barao (fainted the day before his fight)

Heck, even Ronda was injured (Hand). And while this didn't stop her from fighting more than every other champion, it did delay her next fight...

Question: was there any other time where as many champions were hurt at the same time???
What can they do to prevent their champions (and potential biggest stars) from getting injured so much?

UFC biggest challenge right now is PEds.

they dont want to kick out cheaters, and probably want them to keep cheating (monetary incentive), but they have to act like they are opposed. ufc isnt pissed that fighters use, they are pissed guys get caught.

fact that vitor is getting title shot is all we need to know about ufc views on PEDs.

TS is also on to something about the champs not fighting.

Ufc's biggest problem is sustaining the business in a declining ppv market.

Well, but that's the point.
If their Champions were healthy, they'd be fighting on the PPV's and as such the cards would be better, and consequently, the numbers would also be better.

what can they do? how about threaten to strip the title?? I bet half of those champs wouldn't be "injured".

That's the thing. I don't know what could they do.
But it is obvious they need to do something.
Every single WC in UFC has their champion hampered by some sort of injury (the only exception is TJ, but Barao failed).
MM is now taking time off, so this virtually makes all WC's.

How can they better their cards if the top of the top is unavailable?

but on the other hand, I don't want the "he fought injured, and that's why he lost" crap also...

Yes injuries have been a big cause of UFC PPV troubles this year. 2014 has been a total rebuilding year.

Expanding MMA throughout the world to increase the fan base is the biggest challenge. From that stems many smaller but related challenges such as putting on enough events, creating quality cards and having enough quality fighters.

I mean look at Alvarez, he (along with Chandler) was the best fighter by far outside the UFC at 155 and he loses to Cowboy. Cowboy is great but but wasn't ranked in the top 3. It is really hard to expand so fast with such little quality talent. That is their biggest challenge.

Nice point.
But then again, losing all their best fighters greatly contribute for not adding quality to their events.

And while I do agree they need to add more quality to the roster (and this is hard), the quality ones they have are out of commission. Agree?

Yes, but if they had more quality fighters this wouldn't be a bad thing. We just have to wait for 10 - 15 years or so as the young dudes training now develop into tomorrow's fighters.
