Interesting question, Tim. I think I remember watching a video (or maybe it was just some comments you made in a thread here) where you talked about the Philly Shell before, I think, and you said it could come in slightly different takes. Bas' shell seems a bit loose. I've seen it adapted by Yan, and he does a good job with it, I think. He seems to keep it pretty tight, as you say. I would have liked to have seen a few more clips of Bas using the shell.
Brian asked a question at around 1:40, about why MMA fighters would keep a trailing leg back, and kicks were suggested, but I think takedowns and takedown defense play into that as well.
Also, it might be funny to see your take on Royce Gracie's "striking." His fight with Matt Hughes was a one sided beat down, after the Zuffa spin machine hyped him up in his return, which turned out to be a money grab. Or maybe, it would just be depressing, lol.
Finally, I think people would be interested in hearing your take on Gane vs. Jones. You pointed out some flaws with Gane's footwork in a recent video, and this would leave him open for takedowns, which Jones appears to be working on in preparation. Gane has good accuracy, but he seems hesitant at times. Jones lacks accuracy, in my opinion, and he compensates for it with sweeping strikes and teep kicks and obliques. Basically, strikes with high percentage to land.
Also, Jones' toes were injured badly, and he said it affected his wrestling, if I remember correctly. I am wondering if ring rust and age will factor into this. What do you think about long layoffs in combat sports? Anyway, good vid.
