This Saturday we have the #1 and #2 P4P best fighters in the world fighting in the main event. I can't think of a time where this actually happened. We have one fighter with a 22 fight win streak with an incredible set of tools capable of beating anyone. A man that has completely cleaned out his division. Across from him will be one of the most feared and dominant competitors we have ever seen. A man who carries on the Abdulmanap legacy.

As I'm scrolling across social media the last 2 weeks I've noticed something.... Which is the absolute lack of promotion for this fight. The entire card has great fights and I've seen more promotion for the CTE league (Power slap). Do they just not care how many PPV buys they get now that the ESPN guarantees 500k buys?

Islam has said before that he doesn't love doing the conferences/media events and he has been vocal about UFC 284 not being promoted enough. Then to top it all off Dana FORGETS Islam's name during a press conference.

So why do you think they have failed to promote this event?

Well to quote dana, “A great card sells itself! Real ones know”

Islam fought Bobby Green and Dan Hooker prior to winning the title. It's not like he had a lot of high profile fights against guys like Connor, Diaz, Cerrone, Dustin, Chandler, Gathje in the last 3-5 years. Casual fans don't know anything about him.

This is a great fight, but I don't get it from a marketing perspective. I guess they just think Volk has nobody left to fight. In general I'm not a fan of guys randomly moving around in weight classes trying to get multiple belts. If Volk wants to leave 145 and earn a title shot at 155 then by all means. Instant title shots at a different weight class make no sense. What happens to 145 and 155 if Volk wins? What does it do for Volk's status as a P4P all-timer if he loses at 155?

Stupid matchmaking IMO.

I really have no idea how many PPVs this is going to sell. It's such a huge fight but I haven't been hearing or seeing anything outside of MMA circles.

Islam is very unlikable . Some of these guys come in with such a diva like holier than thou attitude.

Khabib has a lot of fans, but they’re in markets where the PPV format doesn’t exist

Plenty in the west. Amir khan was a big draw just from the pakistanis, but khabibs crew are popular amongst all Muslim ethnicities.

UFC should have started promoting earlier. The fight week stuff went viral. So there's finally a buzz.

To be fair it wasn't really Islams fault that he didn't get high profile matchups. Also at 145 there is no one for Volk to fight that's why Yair and Emmett are fighting for the right to challenge Volk. If Volk wins he will take a little time off and then defend against the winner of Yair/Emmett. They will make Dariush wait even longer cause that was always their plan

How can they promote it when the President of the company doesn't know who he has on the roster?

Viral where? I've seen nothing

If... ummm... yeah... can pull it off...

Dana CTE from wife's slap confirmed.

Are you guys concerned because you want other people to watch the event? I know that it is happening and I couldn't be more intrigued by the matchups in the main and co main. There are also a bunch of fun fights on the undercard. I don't need some bald goof to tell me how excited I should be about it. Why do you care if it's being heavily marketed? Do you need to be told to be excited for it? Do you need permission to get amped up for it? They have the embedded, the countdown, they have a press conference this week, then weigh ins... watch those.

I've seen tons of ads/commercials on ESPN linear channels and websites. Tons of buzz on social media too. Don't know what to tell you.

Sorry it's not Conor?

Sorry to break it to ya bud.
Nobody gives a shit about him, me, or you.
The hard core fanbase are an insignificant percentage compared to the casual viewers.

The point is that this is a "Superfight" with the top P4P fighters and the UFC could give a fuck about trying to market it. Not a good look for the sport.
