    WME-IMG conned ESPN.

They seriously did. The icing on top of the cake was rushing a 2 year extension and a deal guaranteeing the UFC 500,000 buys per PPV + a share of any higher number, in return for an exclusivity deal. That deal that WME rushed was done following the very strong numbers UFC pulled on the first ESPN event due to the novelty factor. Ari Emmanuel and Dana White conned the shit out of ESPN.

Not as worried about prelims as I am about PPVs. Especially WMMA prelims. But they need to alliw people to buy on ESPN without subscribing.

Maybe, but it's absolutely terrible for the long term. This is pretty much how boxing lost popularity, by making it ridiculously difficult to follow for a casual fan.

Not sure how it affected the prelim numbers, but the down trend seems to coincide with ESPN+ PPV deal. I've been digging ESPN I really hope it isn't a novelty factor.

    Is anybody really shocked?
There were two fights on the entire card I actually really cared to watch.

When you put together a card that weak you can't be surprised to get terrible numbers top to bottom.

Not surprised, Lil Nog and BJ Penn dont have a place for the casual audience watching, they dont know who they are and what they have individually accomplished.
Also dont want add salt to wound, it was headline by two women who dont have any name value, casuals dont really know but we do. Also, the main audience was male from age 35-49, and from 18-49 age group 74.2% were male watching, meaning 25.8% were female watching.

I could never understand the lack of foresight when it comes to the UFC. The logic that because of illegal streams and distribution, they are losing money, is total BS. Do you think Microsoft would ever get this big if they prosecuted piracy? Bill Gates actually said it best more than 20 years ago:

"Although about 3 million computers get sold every year in China, people don't pay for the software. Someday they will, though," Gates told an audience at the University of Washington. "And as long as they're going to steal it, we want them to steal ours. They'll get sort of addicted, and then we'll somehow figure out how to collect sometime in the next decade."

I'm from the UK and have no idea ESPN works as I tune in to BT sports, what's the issue with it?

    Poor format on the app

You have to switch 3 times on some shows between early prelims, prelims, main card

Pay to pay for overpriced ppv

It's shitty for Americans like, I just pay monthly for BT and record events then watch them the following mornings. This move will make or break the UFC I feel.

Probably because Americans haven’t ordered ESPN+ yet. They can’t watch something they have no access to. That’s what everyone keeps saying. Ppl do not want to pay for access just to be able to pay for a ppv. I can’t blame them
    when you factor in everything.

Why? It's the same price, so you basically get a free month of ESPN+.
