- The UFC has sent letters to those participating in UFC 225, warning them. Here's an excerpt from that letter: “Because of Illinois’ no tolerance policy for marijuana, we recommend that marijuana use be discontinued for anyone participating on the UFC 225 card between now and the event.”
- WADA (and USADA) currently allow for fighters to have 150 ng/ml of marijuana in their system while in competition; however, Illinois is one of the few states that allows for none of it.
- The fighters can apply for a TUE (therapeutic use excemption) but they must have a medical card and it's up to the state's discretion.
- One fighter, Curtis Blaydes, has had experience on the wrong end of zero-tolerance, when his victory over Adam Milstead in Houston Texas was overturned due to him testing positive for marijuana in the state of Texas. His bout was overturned to a No Contest and he was suspended for 90 days.
- UFC 225 goes down June 9th at the United Center in Chicago Illinois. Middleweight champion Robert Whittaker takes on Yoel Romero in the main event.
