My "casual" friends are already texting "Hey man I heard Conor ruined the event!", or "this fuckin Irshman got the card cancelled". I'm not making this up, multiple people I talked to about UFC the last few weeks think this disaster is because of Conor. They don't know anything about the weight cutting, Ferguson injury, and frankly, I doubt they even care to know.

The man is a living legend that creates alternative realities in the entertainment world. If Conor comes back, all the casuals will be buying in droves to see a Khabib fight because they think there was a literal gang war in the parking lot that cause the card to be ruined.

yes people talk about Conor not ufc.

Ironically, Conor may have actually saved the main event. lol...

It's possible I had overreacted before because of the obscenity of it all. I mean, perhaps the UFC is trying to see what the ceiling is in terms of how much attention McGregor can get which can lead to them making a future McGregor LW title defense as gigantic as possible. That would also be why they weren't content to have Khabib Max just be a catchweight fight; in order to lead into a future McGregor title bout UFC had to have an actual LW title contest. And so that meant even in the event Max couldn't maker it, that would from their viewpoint mean more assurance that Khabib leaves the PPV as the champ.

So it's possible that this was set up for the UFC to temporarily put themselves in a really low point now to have a massive payoff down the line. The issue, though, is that the payoff would depend on Conor and Khabib keeping it together enough to actually have a title defense. And that's a monstrous gamble; basically betting every dollar you ahve on a poker game where you have a pair of tens and praying the opponent doesn't have a pair of jacks/queens/kings/aces.

Conor only really ruined the Borg fight (which is obvious BS ambulance chasing) as Pettis would have likely been pulled to replace Max anyways, as he is the much bigger name. Obviously, UFC will try to pin everything on him to increase their leverage for future negotiations tho.

You're an idiot, if you think this is good for long term. Speak for yourself,, none of my friend text me anything about the Ufc.

This is the narrative of a clueless idiot.

Was the Rockstar can throwing good for the UFC long term? Was the Jones extra-curriculars good long term? Travis Browne beating his wife? On and on and on you can go. None of this bullshit has been a positive for the sport or the UFC.
