UFC 222 - Struve and Zingano are one win away each from a title shot

he is the only person with a unavenged win over the champion. That can get you an unearned title shot.
Pretty stupid tbh, Struve has shown nothing that he can replicate that win.

Id understand if Struve was on a streak but a win over arvloski shouldn't get you a TS these days.

Hes what like 1-4 in past 5?

Struve got ktfo by someone whose height is just above his navel.

you are acting like title shots are based on merit

Such a legacy would have a question mark if he does not avenge the loss.

What question mark?Stipe would be a huge favorite for obvious reasons.Anderson Silva really needs to avenge his Ryo Chonan loss because it's really effected his legacy.

Car probably gets a shit with a win but Struve will never fight for the title.

The differences are as follows:

(1) Chonan was not in the UFC so there was no way Anderson could have rematched him. Struve is in the UFC right now and has been the entire time Stipe has been in the UFC.

(2) Chonan beat Anderson outside the UFC. Struve beat Stipe in the UFC.

Stipe is on his way to become the HW GOAT, maybe the actual GOAT. From a historical perspective, it's going to lead to pesky unanswered questions. If Stipe is the GOAT, how come Struve beat him? Why didn't they rematch? Was Stipe ducking Struve?

We may know the answers to these questions now but over time the context of these answers will fade away and the questions will reemerge.

Plus I just want to see the rematch. This is MMA. Shit happens. Even though shit happens ALL THE TIME some are stubbornly closed off to the possibility that shit will happen again.

Yeah, you make a good point with the whole time thing.I can see that now as people looking back on it having questions especially with mma fans in generally doing an Idiocracy dumbing down thing and studying records instead of watching footage or understanding the times.
