    Meltzer:
On Google searches, searches since Thursday related to the show were 6.3 million, which is the all-time record for the promotion. Keep in mind that 200,000 is normal for a PPV, 50,000 is normal for a Demetrious Johnson PPV and the last UFC PPV was 1.3 million. Mayweather-Pacquiao and the Super Bowl did more than 10 million. Rousey has in particular exploded with older women.

Saturday, 'Ronda Rousey' 5 million searches

And yet it probably gets less than 500,000 PPV buys.

excellent. Next time don't juxtopose Ronda with a couple of TUF finales, so the casuals can see the best MMA has to offer all night.

Better yet, put Ronda/Tate 3 on Fox. Break ratings records and grow the brand.

I may have to bump my "Could UFC 190 actually sell more than UFC 189?" thread from a couple months ago. Patiently waiting...

Interesting now I'm really interested in how many ppv 190 would do. And it'll be hilarious if old women ends up becoming MMA's main demographic. Instead of Reebok they'll be sponsored by Yoplait. lol.

ufc 189 only had 1.3 million google searches and had 1 million ppv buys?

ratio seems weird to me. google searches for it should be way more.

I agree with the top part.

I would also tend to agree with the bottom part, but I think giving Ronda/Tate for free is not smart biz.
I would certainly think about putting other popular fighters on Fox, but Ronda people pay for & her & Tate could do better than any WMMA fight outside of Cyborg.

People don't care about UFC 190. They care about Ronda Rousey.

Here's Ronda Rousey vs. Conor and Brock in search volume: https://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=/m/04gttgp, /m/0rfgxy2, /m/01txyn&cmpt=q&tz=Etc/GMT+7

    And here's Ronda Rousey vs. true A-level celebrities: https://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=/m/04gttgp, /m/0dl567, /m/06w2sn5&cmpt=q&tz=Etc/GMT+7

She hit critical mass in her 14-second fight against Zingano and became mainstream. Last night she reached another level and became A-level, not in terms of athleticism (she's B level at best), but celebrity status. That said, PPV numbers would be good, but much, much lower than the search volumes would indicate, as 1. casuals are less likely to shell out for a PPV and 2. her fight easily fits in a gif.

In any case, put her on a good card with other B-level athletes (aka UFC elites) instead of D-level cans and has-beens, and you have a real chance of beating the record set by UFC 100 and more importantly, exposing this fringe sport to the masses.

Maybe people were googling the results because they didn't bother ordering it.

Yep, that explains the 5 million results for Ronda BEFORE the card ended

The card ended really late. Cards are usually over by 9:40. This one went way past 10. Maybe they thought it was over. 😀
