The Ultimate Fighting Championships will return to the big screen next month for the highly anticipated heavyweight title fight between Cain Velasquez and Fabricio Werdum.

Following several previous theater endeavors, including most recently for the UFC 167 welterweight title fight between Georges St-Pierre and Johny Hendricks, the top MMA promotion will now make UFC 180 available, as a part of their ongoing deal with Fathom Events.

Tickets for the theater showing go on sale on October 16th.

UFC 180 takes place Nov. 15 at the Arena Mexico in Mexico City.

The updated UFC 180 fight card includes:

  • Cain Velasquez vs. Fabricio Werdum [UFC heavyweight title]
  • Jake Ellenberger vs. Kelvin Gastelum
  • Joe Lauzon vs. Diego Sanchez
  • Dennis Bermudez vs. Ricardo Lamas
  • Edgar Garcia vs. Hector Urbina
  • Jessica Eye vs. Leslie Smith
  • Augusto Montano vs. TBA

I guess when you have someone fight once a year it's a big deal. Not that great of a card to put in the movie theater in my opinion. UFC 181-183 would be though.

Cool. Always wanted to try this at least once. How much does it cost?

That depends on the theater in your city. It usually goes for $15 regular and $25 for 3D here in SoCal.

The experience is worth it if the room is filled with MMA fans, in opposed to drunken just-bleed casuals at the bar.

I'm doubting the movie theaters will be serving alcohol during the telecast. :(

I am seriously considering this. I am getting tired of streaming this shit on my laptop, and 180 is a really solid card.

All of the movie theaters in my area serve alcohol except for one. I would bet if you do some digging, you might be able to find one that is accommodating.

They should do it in a 3-D theather so we could literally see Werdoomed's teeth literally fly at us!

Would be interesting to see it on a big ass screen in a dark theater but Id rather go to a sports bar so I can drink, hoot and holler and make an ass of myself

Hmm, always wondered about this. Do people pretty much act the same as they do as they would at an event? Because I'd love to avoid you drunken dbags (no offense) but I also don't think I could stay in my seat and avoid screaming at Cain "FINISH HIM!! FUCKING POUNCE!!"

Glad to finally see TBA back in the swing of things. Hope he comes back with a win

Thanks for the heads up, I hate you muhfuckas lol.

Sorry if it's a dumb question, but is this only for the US, or will they be showing in Canadian theaters also?

If you're from a fight town, it would be similar to watching a movie on midnight Thursday premiere. Those who actually show up really know their shit.

In my experience, viewer's reaction are directly proportionate to what's happening on the screen, and that includes loud "Oh shit!! Oh shit!!" when a sub is being subtly locked in, not just brutal GnP, as your neighbors would likely be as knowledgeable in MMA techniques as you are.

And yes, loud ovation are warranted for both quick finishes as well as 5-round war, and "OoOoohh!!" together with distinct GIF-able facial expressions are mandatory during instant replays.

So is 180 the only one they're doing this with in the near future?

I see you're from oc, where in socal do they play it? I rather watch in a theater than Buffalo wild wings with a bunch of tapout wearing 909ers
