Sorry if this was posted already, but how is it that Belfort can fight Sonnen at UFC 175 but not Weidman? I thought he needed time to train and clear his system and that was why he lost title shot in the first place. And yes I realize it was scheduled earlier. Just saying seems very hypocritical of the UFC which isn't too surprising. Either way WAR Sonnen!

I somewhat see your point, but to be fair..Vitor needed time to get the gear out of his system. Machida filled in, the fight got pushed back to UFC 175...so are they suppose to say to Machida, sorry but get out?

They could and have done it before, but good point.

There's still 5 weeks left. Enough time for Machida to get hurt. Hell, Weidman could get hurt and they could make Vitor v Chael a fight for the interim title.

If for whatever reason Machida pulls out, expect Chael to get his title shot and Vitor to face Luke Rockhold.

I really hope this doesn't happen.

Actually, this is a good thread.

From the little I've read about it, Vitor apparently submitted to drug testing and took care of his other licensing stuff, and Wand just didn't. But I don't understand either how Vitor flushed the TRT out of his system so quickly when the drug was what kept him from getting the title shot at this particular event.

Yet another mystery of how the UFC works, or doesn't.

Or that Vitor didn't release his latest test results.. we'll find out sooner later. Dana is always truthful about this stuff, right?
