Didn't hear about this until now. Didn't know the US made a pledge to take in 70 thousand refugees from Somalia, Congo, Iraq among other countries for this fiscal year. Schools in the area are getting ready to hire more personnel to handle the increase as well as language experts to accommodate the new students. Not sure if they're all going to North Dakota or if they're going to be spread out across the country.

They make the best neighbors. What a stupid pledge.

Resettlement contractors (playing themselves off as do-gooder charities) get paid per head and usually look to dump them in cities past their heyday that hsve public transportation and cheap rent.

I know in PA they end up in Lancaster and in NY they end up in Buffalo, Syracuse and Utica.

They are also the exception to social security, they can collect benefits without paying into it.

As long as they are not Muslims, then I'm fine with it. No offense to the Muslims who are good people, but it's too dangerous to take them in.

They should probably go somewhere else in the world. The USA is gonna be seeing hard times in the near future.

I'm not sure why anyone would have a problem with this. Should we just turn the other cheek to people in Baghdad and Mogadishu?

It seems as if this administration is trying to take down our own country.

Fargo already has a decent size Somali immigrant population.
I couldn't imagine being used to an average low of 60 degrees and then moving to a place that gets -25 in the winter. I'm used to it and it's still flippin cold.

They are also in Minneapolis and Maine, both know for being generous with welfare for refugees

Hate to break this to everybody, but this is the same as every year. Obama is not suddenly flooding the country with refugees to destroy america.

The difference is that in the past we strongly encouraged assimilation.

We took a lot in from Bosnia, too.
I work with a lot of refugees and they're all exceptional people.

The problem is if we bring in people of bad character.
