This fight was HUGE back in the day. Winner was to face the Holyfield vs Foreman winner for the title. And we all know what happened to Mike after this fight and his 4 years out of the ring. It had been a long time since I watched this fight and I think it is largely forgotten as far as all out wars go. Razor was an absolute monster in the late 80s/early 90s. He and Tyson basically stood toe to toe and landed bomb after bomb on each other.
Long gone was the bobbing and weaving Tyson of old who came in off the jab. What a chin from both guys. It was a street fight in the ring, lots of hitting after the bell, low blows, posturing, they left it all in the ring that night. Razor was digging these absolutely vicious uppercuts to Tysons body and left hooks that would of KO'd most guys. But Mike kept pressing forward straight up and down and dropped Ruddock on several occasions.
When asked about his boxing career Ruddock stated that his fights with Tyson took everything out of him, and believed they also finished Tyson, insisting both he and Tyson were never the same after those fights.
Watching this is epic. Mills Lane was ref. Tyson probably should've been DQ'd later in the fight on a couple of occasions but Mills just let these two dogs rip each other apart. Also, Tysons corner was pretty much just there to towel him off and give him water. They tried giving him advice but you could tell Mike wasn't listening nor cared. He was there to throw down mano a mano. Entertaining as hell, give it a watch or the highlights below I hopefully embedded correctly:
