Tyrone Spong training with Mayweather Sr,

Thats crazy I was gonna post that video last night as a reply for the Mix Boxing with Muay Thai thread.

But a lot of the video is stupid Mayweather Sr. rapping and babbling on like an idiot.

The funniest thing about Floyd Sr., is if you had the balls to call him an idiot to his face, he wouldn't hesitate to kick your ass. Then you could say you got your ass kicked by Floyd Sr. I wish I were kidding about that, but I've seen him scrap in the middle of the street outside the Gym.

I call em like I see em and he seems like a crazy cracked out dude .

With all due respect I would Thai Kick his face or femur into next week Sinister.:icon_chee

Boxing is less than half of the complete striking world.

lol@you

The guy Floyd beat up was a former kickboxer who tried that same deal. FYI: People have been thinking for years that every Boxer can be taken out simply by kicking their legs, or taking them down.

Most Boxers with half a lick of Fighting knowledge outside the confines of a Professional ring have been onto those two notions since kicking/grappling existed.

I'm not denying Floyd is crazy, but you're equally as crazy and cracked-out if you honestly think you'd have an easy time Fighting a guy as crazy as he is.

I am not saying I would have an easy time fighting anyone, at the same time I would definitley like my chances with Mayweather Sr. as opposed to someone like a retired Ramon Dekkers.

And to be honest I have no fear of getting my ass kicked. In life you kick ass and sometimes you get your ass kicked .Its happened to me before & I'm sure from reading your posts it's also happened to you at least in the gym.

Being Mexican & growing up where I did its not so much if you win a fight or lose it, it matters a lot more if you will stand up for yourself and not let someone punk you .

I think my father in law is a crazy doped out babbling idiot as well but I have never told him to his face because there is no point in starting beef with him .The same goes for Mayweather and anyone else that act & talk like they have done way to many drugs and alcohol in there lives. But if push comes to shove and they do something to annoy or offend me directly, I'd tell my drunkard of a father in law or Mayweather Sr. or anyone else for that matter what I think of them .

As for Boxing against Muay Thai , I dont know what to say except watch some K-1 and or K-1 Max and after you see what happens to the pure boxers really and truly try to decide if you even want to start that arguement about the utter and complete dominance of a striking art that Muay Thai is over Western Boxing as a whole.

Boxing is a part of the Muay Thai fighters curriculum, while kicking , much less defending kicks is taught never in any pure boxing gym. And clinching & kneeing are a whole other animal that boxers dont learn or know how to defend.
I am a gambling man and I would bet every time on a card that pitted proficient boxers against proficient MuayThai fighters , without hesitation.
I would love to see all the guys from the major stadiums in Thailand and the K-1 & K-1 Max guys go up against their counter parts in the boxing world by weight class under Muay Thai or even K-1 rules .
It would be a massacre of boxers , You know it & I know it so lets just leave it at that.

Look at yourself... you're in an argument on the fucking internet about who would win in a fight between you and Floyd Mayweather sr, lol

How little responsibilities does one have to have on their plate in life, to have the time to be arguing on the internet about this kind of shit and writing a bigass multi paragraph response justifying why he would kick the shit out of this old dude?

Sinister was the one talking about Mayweather kicking my ass .

If you think that about my long response, dont waste your time by reading it.
I sure as hell didn't ask anyone else to read my reply including you.

If you are replying than I guess you have even less responsibilities than the rest of us.

But you are right I am done with this thread.

The funny thing is that I would brag about getting my ass kicked by someone of his caliber. LOL.

The only "pure Bxers" that have ever fought in K-1 and K-1 Max weren't anywhere near the top of the World of Boxing. You're basing your philosophy solely on a couple of has-beens and nobodies getting their asses handed to them in Sports they never bothered to learn any of the nuances of, nor did they have particular reputations of aptitude outside the Professional medium of Boxing as a Sport. You're using selective reasoning to believe exactly what you want to believe, and that's fine. But it's not exactly a purely credible argument.

So no, I don't know what you know, and I'm not arrogant enough to even pretend as if I could predict the outcome of a Fight contested under no specific guidelines, simply basing my assessment on what style one guy claims to practice as opposed to another.
I've seen far too many Fights to actually believe it's that cut-and-dry.

Good distinction. In MMA most guys are strikers using boxing techniques. It works because most of the skill is level. They do not need to be great. If someones hands are better, you can mitigate that by shooting or going to the ground. I am not looking forward to watching retired boxers rush into MMA unless they can work on the ground.

As a kid, I had my boxing gloves on so much the neighbors thought I was "special".

Marcus Davis can't seem to defend leg-kicks to save his life. Doesn't stop him from punching people in the mouth. Same deal with Koscheck, who discovered he can crack a bit. Sure Thiago dismantled him, but that had a lot to do with Thiago's physical strength and size, and Koscheck taking the Fight on short notice.

The point? It's all variable with guys who even relatively know what they're doing. Not to mention that I've only met a handful of Boxers who have never in their lives wrestled or kickboxed. There's a reason Floyd dropped a dude who tried to kick him twice. Obviously it wasn't the first time someone had ever kicked at him.

lol poor KK is there ever a day you don't get into a fight on this forum? Well it is only one man against a lot of idiots.

Couldn't resist, I'm back.

Marcus Davis, Josh Koscheck & Alves are all irrelevant in your argument Sinister, considering that Davis trains Muay Thai @ SitYodTong ,Koscheck trains Muay Thai @ American Kickboxing Academy & Thiago Alves is one of the better Muay Thai strikers in the MMA game as well.

Rampage Jackson also has a hard time defending leg kicks as shown in his fight with Forrest Griffin , that does not mean he doesn't train to defend them or ever has . Rampage has had great Muay Thai coaches in the past like Colin Oyama & Chris Reilly. Knowing & training on how to defend something and actually doing it in a fight are two different things, Frank Trigg and the rear naked choke are a perfect example.

I will agree in the end it is the fighter and not the style, but I still firmly believe elite boxers would get wrecked over 90% of the time by elite Muay Thai or K-1 guys .

It just comes down to them having more tools at their disposal.

This thread went sidways in a hurry.

And I have to believe floyd sr would put an ass whooopin on 99% of the guys on these forums 1strike included. Not being scarred of an ass beating doesnt change the fact that you would recieve one. I probably out weigh Floyd sr by 100 lbs and I am sure he would beat me bad.

Marcus Davis is up in my area. I see him from time to time. He is a boxed turned MMA. SidYodTong is the best gym to train at up here because of the intensity and the ground game. They have the best training partners because it attracts pros. I am not sure how many guys he has beat with leg kicks, clinch work etc. He did not get his hands from MT.

Do you realize how bad you contradict yourself? You said "I will agree in the end it is the fighter and not the style, but I still firmly believe elite boxers would get wrecked over 90% of the time by elite Muay Thai or K-1 guys" .

I am fully aware where Marcus Davis got his hands and how he had about 20 pro boxing bouts.
I have been aware of this fact since they said it in his stint on TUF.
Obviously he learned boxing and then Muay Thai , but the facts dont change that he is now a MMA fighter , and trains kicking, kneeing and elbowing in addition to punching in Muay Thai under Dellagrotte.

My point being that there has been numerous Muay Thai fighters ( a lot of Thais in the lighter weights) that crossed over and won world titles in boxing, after being Muay Thai Champions . They learned boxing as part of MT training.
Here is an example of one such MT fighter turned boxing world champion Samart Payakaroon

You will not see a pure boxer cross over to MMA or Muay Thai or K1 and take a title without first having to learn Kick, & Knee defense at a minimum .

And for the record I love boxing , always have and will.
I did amateur boxing since my high school years and it is a badass combat sport on its own , but having competed in both Muay Thai and Amateur Boxing I can honestly say Muay Thai is the more complete & effective combat sport & self defense discipline.

I miss the glory days of Chavez , Barrera & Morales :icon_sad:
