Tyron Woodley won’t fight Kamaru Usman if Darren Till misses weight

This refusing to fight bullshit is getting really fucking old.

Imagine if tennis players refused to play other players at Wimbledon lol

So there's no need for coaches and training camps? The fighters should just get in shape and have absolutely no game plan?
I'm not saying that, but you cant just believe that the UFC has not informed him that if Till can't fight he would be fighting Usman.
He probably knew that was the plan before any of it was announced to the public.
I'm just saying defend your belt, if one guy can't make it there will be another to take his place for you to Defend against, not just take another fight against an overweight Till (if he doesn't make weight)

Darren Till was overweight for his title eliminator fight against Stephen Thompson earlier this year, coming in 3.5 pounds over the limit at UFC Fight Night 130 in front of his hometown crowd in Liverpool, England.

The victory was good enough to earn him a shot at Tyron Woodley’s welterweight title, even if he was the second option to interim titleholder Colby Covington.

Still, Woodley isn’t worried about “The Gorilla’s” weight issues, as he told The Ariel Helwani MMA Show that he intends to fight the top contender at UFC 228 on Sept. 8, 2018 in Dallas, Texas, whether Till hits his mark or not.

Of course, the contest will be a non-title fight should Till have another scale fail, and would still likely be the headliner despite Nicco Montano and Valentina Shevchenko fighting for the flyweight title in the co-main event.

As far as accepting a short-notice fight against Kamaru Usman, who will be on standby should someone not play by the rules come fight night, Woodley says there is “zero percent chance” he will accept the proposal, saying “The Nigerian Nightmare” is not someone to fight on 24 hours notice.

There's probably an 85% chance Till misses. Good on Tyron. Screw the UFC like they screwed him with the bum card.

The sad part is that's probably the easiest fight for him in the division, and he's still ducking!

He never said that. In FACT he is currently contracted to defend the belt. He said he didnt want to fight Usman on 24 hrs notice, he would want time to prepare for that fight. I dont see that as a problem. Any blame is on Till for missing weight(if he does) and on the UFC for giving Till a title shot AFTER missing weight. Woodley is 100% in the right on this one.
Like you said he is contracted to defend the belt. He has stated that if Till doesn't make weight that he will still fight him. That is not defending your belt.
If Usman can make weight then he can defend against him, what is the problem this is MMA u should be prepared for any type of way this fight should go whether it is striking or grappling.

I've been dismayed at stances Woodley has taken in the past but this time he is completely within reason.

Like you said he is contracted to defend the belt. VS TILL.
Fixed it for you.
He has stated that if Till doesn't make weight that he will still fight him. That is not defending your belt.
That is him doing the fans a favor by agreeing to still put on a show against his contracted opponent regardless of Tills unprofessionalism or the UFCs horrible planning.

He is not contracted to fight Usman. He never was to my knowledgde. If you think all professional fighters are the same and all preparation(camps) should be the same then you go do it. Whats your record again?

If the reigning Champion says he needs more than 24 hrs to prepare for an opponent that is a reasonable request. Who are we to dictate how long it takes to prepare or what his process is? Obviously it got him this far so he is doing something right.

You might not like it but hes in the right here. Its on Till and thr UFC to do the rest. Woodley is fulfilling his obligations and making reasonable requests. JBG be damned.

Seems like he will fight till even if weight is missed

This is no surprise after seeing him on Rogans show talking about how he analyses each fighter, he's a calculated guy.

100% agree with this
Its a legit sport not entertainment woodley and any other non retarded fighter should always say fuck no to last min stand ins esp at the elite level
Dana will always winge as its his job to push the cards not the sport

ROFL my god, look at how overrated Usman is.

OOOOOOO EVERYONE IS DUCKING USMAN, HE SO GOOD BRO. Yeah, just like everyone was ducking James Vick too.

Usman is nothing special. A shittier Josh Koschek is all he is. Dude is the definition of a lay and pray fighter. Decisioning a bunch of cans and old as fuck Maia.

This guy would get tooled by Colby. TOOLED. That shit cardio would never last 25 minutes in there with Colby.
lol u underrating him like fuck

Getting sick of these UFCircus title shots.
How does a man miss weight by 3.5 pounds in the title eliminator then scrape past Thompson in what most people called a robbery and get a title shot?
By having a socially desirable accent.

Because Bisping retired and they need another brash English fighter to keep the UK fanbase coming back. If the UFC sees a money maker in you they'll do some stupid and unfair shit to get you where they want you, they really don't care who gets screwed over in the process.

So hilarious how Till missed weight and robbed a decision in a country notorious for bias judges (see Bisping and Silva too) and he's now getting a title shot. Kid shouldn't have even moved up the rankings.
Please don’t try and use bisping vs silva as an example of bias judging, it makes you look ridiculous.
Now Hamill vs bisping, ok. Although iirc it was the 2 American judges that gave it to ping and the uk judge gave it to hamill. So *shrug*
What nationality were the judges for till vs Thompson? Doesn’t the ufc usually bring its own

Not really a fan of Tyron but he is 100% justified here. People calling him a duck must just be haters.
Usman is a dangerous opponent and practically the polar opposite of Till, silly fight to take on 24hrs notice
