"My initial reaction was obviously not excited, jumping over the fence and looking for rainbows in the sky," he told Ariel Helwani. "For me, I was pretty upset because I was told verbally through Dana White and Lorenzo [Fertitta] that I would fight this kid, and I would fight him in his hometown, and the winner of this bout would get the shot at the world title. So for me, I thought the risk matched the reward. I was prepared to go up to this kid

Good attitude. I think he has what it takes to put a whooping on Rory.

UFC is working on title shot matches and how to implement it. I say whoever wins impressively should get a shot. Strike while they are hot. If someone barely wins a decision, try again. :icon_chee No wonder fights aren't selling, people want to see a juggernaut vs a champion not a who is that guy or he did nothing his last fight that was impressive. Fighters are funny wanting to make big bucks yet wanting to fight weak competition like some champs.

His victory over Condit was the result of a freak accident. He needs another top win for a title shot imo.

I agree with the concept that whomever wins in most devastating fashion will get the next title shot. I however do not see Rory or Woodley winning in a lopsided victory but i do see Lawler decimating Brown with ease.

So, my guess is Lawler getting the next shot.

Hopefully Woodley can beat Rory's ass. I really don't like that weird kid.

The UFC want Lawler to fight again and everybody should take that as a slap in the face.

He gets to fight more regularly and fight the people he needs to, to get the TS.

It's too bad all he did in that fight was win every single minute up to the "freak" injury.

Condit fans are delusional on these boards.

He makes a very good point. He needs to really dominate Rory from pillar to post (which hasn't ever been done) and he may get a shot.
qft
until bout agreements are signed nothing is set in stone. and people get hurt and so on.

Idk why, but gut feeling tells me he finishes this early. People might even dispute the stoppage.
