Hey all,

I came across this at onthemat.com. It's a pretty accurate and funny take on the types of people you will train with in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Enjoy!

BJJ Types Revisited Part 1
May 12th, 2006 by Gumby

There

Fuck some of those are so true especially the instructor, the laugher, and the practice hero, have rolled with a few of these people before

Great list. I've only been training four months, but I've already seen a couple of these in class.

Hahahaha some I can think of a couple of those guys at the gym

good post. havent trained yet, will be starting on tuesday, but i definately see that happening as it did when i wrestled in h.s. Funny post

hahahha i trained for the first time 2 weeks ago... and i laughed because 15 of those already applied to myself

very true. most people in jiu jitsu are just like sherdoggers

"The Abandoner"
Sorry man, I cant train today, I gotta look for a job.

everyday for 2 months later...
Sorry man, i'm still looking for a job. maybe next week though

thank God I found new partners

hahahaaahaha that shit is so true.....

yesterday i rolled with this new kid with an obvious wrestling background.....no technique, just muscled through everything. he was trying for some slams and shit, kinda pissed me off.....was about to kick other people on the mat in the head going all spazz crazy....then when i got his back, i had a half sunk rear naked and he started gurgling and still wouldnt tap. then his next 8 minutes he fucks this dudes ankle up......hes the instructor and the no technique guy rolled into one. goes too crazy neck cranker......this other dude in class told me later in the bathroom that he sunk the rear naked on his ass with both hooks and the guys is like.........hey wait a sec........and tries to tell the guy how to sink the choke.......he was like it was sunk motherfucker until you started talking and asked me to stop.....irritating.....:icon_twis

Pretty funny, i am slightly embarrresed to find that I am an "instructor"

I'm the Talker/Laugher

I've only been "Gotta Go" once cause I knew I was gonna get paired up with a spaz wrestling guy and didn't feel like having my nose broken.

The most common one I see is "the instructor". I'll have kids who are on like their 3rd week of training pulling that. Some upper belts (like purple and up) do this to white belts but they can pull it off cause they really are letting them get the sub.

I've been a laugher on occasion, mostly because I tend to talk a lot during rolls. Usually though, I try to keep it to "what am I doing wrong? How did I get/miss that?" etc, etc...

Closest I got to "Drama guy"- I got elbowed by accident when I pulled guard, so I went "Not cool!" to my partner and we kept rolling.

i dont train bjj, but the same can be said in kickboxing. very funny. there always seems to be the guy that shows up every 3 weeks or the guy that has something that hurts so you cant kick or hit him there during sparring. my least favorite is the good ***guy that always seems to let you think he is letting you kick his ass for training purposes.
