Reading fiction is good to understand people and society. It is also useful for improving empathy because you know the motives and feelings of the characters.

How useful is it is it to watch TV shows? For example Sons of Anarchy. Does watching Sons of Anarchy improve empathy, understanding of people and understanding of society?

I'm asking because I just watched 2 episodes of Sons of Anarchy. I enjoyed it but I'm worried that I have wasted my time. Life is short. So I want to use my time effectively.

Reading fiction wont do jack neither will watching the tube.

It best to get out of house and experience life first hand.

I think that is biggest problem with people. They glued to smartphones, internet, OnDemand. They should not watch life, they should go live it.

You need other people to tell what is an effective use of your time? You can't figure that out for yourself?

My suggestion is to make better use of your time by not making useless threads.

I write fiction. It's great. Getting laid is better. I suggest you aim to be well rounded. Read it. Write it. Watch it. Bang it. Get out and experience it.

Man this is so true. Ive been guilty of this lately but I've realized it and have been going out a lot more trying new things.

I know you're gonna get the typical sherdog joke/bash comments but its astounding how our morals and ethics are shaped by the media we consume, especially as children.
