International Turkey announces invasion of Syria

To be fair everything is going back to what is was before. Just the place is wrecked.

Syria gets back to it's previous borders minus some of the golan heights and north east "buffer zone".

All that money and all you have is a trillion dollar bill, millions displaced thousands dead and for what? The attempted balkinisation of Syria.

It really is pretty amazingly convenient that any difficulty Trump faces was caused by Obama.
It's almost as though Trump doesn't cause any of his own problems and isn't responsible for anything bad.

I haven't defended anything. I'm pointing out how insufferable you people are where the man literally dominates your thoughts. This is now about the major players in the region, of which America is not anymore. He also advocated for a highly supressive totalitarian state with a caste system and communal gang bangs where children are stripped from their parents at birth and then given to the community to be raised so no one knows who's raising who's children and also didn't believe in private property.

Also, he did not argue for a caste system, but a meritocracy. Very different. The circumstances of your birth would have no bearing on your future role in society because the whole point was to design every social institution to make sure everyone had an opportunity to develop their innate abilities the the fullest extent possible-- and then to select leaders based on those who exhibited the most noble traits.

So, if you are done travestying Plato, have a nice morning.

Meritocracy only applied to the people who were born into the proper class who were allowed upward mobility.

So no. It was a caste system.

Also we can knock it. We have had totalitarian shit holes based off of collectivist outlooks with political elites and a supression of freedom. It's called communism. No thanks.

The point of having all children raised by professional caretakers was to erase accidents of birth and allow innate abilities to surface.

Plato did say that, once all children had received an ideal and equitable early education, they were to be placed in one of three diverging educational tracks based on the abilities they had displayed (which is what I assume you are referring to as "caste").

The world has never seen a meritocracy because it requires people to care more about how that state is run that who gets to run it. In other words, not to be short-shortsightedly self-interested. So, yeah, we've never tried that.

Wrong. It was to erase personal bias and parental attachment to ones one biological offspring so that it wouldn't run contrary to the collectivist nature of the political project that was being proposed by reinforcing a sense of patriotism. You are falsely assuming that the entire city had upward mobility. You are limited by a subjective interpretation of what "metal" your soul is made up of and the only people who are able to move up are down are arguably the guardians and that's it. In other words your fate is pre-determined. Which is a far cry from your interpretation of the Republic being a "meritocracy" you are literally the only person who has ever deduced it as such. It's a class system much like the one in India, is it identicle? No but it's as predetermined and as rigid. And the reason something like that doesn't work is because it requires one to forfeit any personal freedom and life force one may have in order to benefit the collective. Humans don't operate like that. Certain insects do, but not humans.
